Intending to treat it and protect it, the three of them set up the Lapras Defense Corps. Heidi, Jay, Kye, and Bonnie play with Lapras until they have to go home. On their journey to Coumarine City, Clemont stops to show Ash, Serena, and Bonnie an old invention of his. He invites Pikachu and Dedenne to try it out. It acts like an electric shower, allowing Electric-type Pokémon to absorb the electricity they need. He calls it a "Clemontic Shower". Suddenly, a young blue-haired woman in a lab coat runs by, who Clemont calls Miss Éclairisse. He introduces her as a teacher at the academy he studied at when he was young, and Bonnie once again futilely tries to arrange a marriage. She then invites Ash and his friends on a tour of the academy. Mysteriously, as they walk off, a wild Luxio watches. After giving Ash and his friends the grand tour, Clemont begins to recount how Meyer enrolled him into the academy, and how he met you-know-who, who turns out to be a Shinx. Shinx was injured from lack of electricity. After being nursed at a Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy told Clemont that lots of Electric-type Pokémon are suffering from lack of electricity. With that, Clemont got the idea for his Clemontic Showers, which he invented with Shinx and became a success all over town. He told Shinx of his dream to make a world where all Pokémon can be happy, a dream Shinx seemed to support. Back in the present day, Team Rocket overhears Clemont talking about his Clemontic Showers and how they would attract Electric-type Pokémon, including Ash's Pikachu. They go into the sewers to manipulate the electricity. However, they are stopped in their tracks by the wild Luxio. Suddenly, there is a blackout. Ash and his friends, as well as Officer Jenny, go to investigate. They catch Team Rocket red-handed, and also notice Luxio. Clemont briefly sees the Shinx he befriended in the Luxio's eyes as it glares at him. Luxio tries to attack, but Ash and his friends redirect him to Team Rocket. Luxio then follows Team Rocket to an electrical tower. Meanwhile, Ash and his friends are discussing the Luxio they saw as Serena grooms her Fennekin and Pancham. Serena suspects that the Luxio they saw was indeed Clemont's Shinx evolved. Clemont agrees, and tells the story about how he and Shinx were separated. It was the day before his graduation and he was going to deliver a cake to Shinx and ask to catch him and be his partner. But then the mayor arrives and forces him into his limo to go to a party celebrating his invention. Clemont sees Shinx soon to be disappointed as he leaves, and when he returns, Shinx leaves, assuming Clemont abandoned him. Luxio confronts Team Rocket and Meowth says that Luxio is trying to make a world where all Pokémon can be happy. After Clemont defends Luxio, Luxio remembers his friendship with Clemont as a Shinx and licks him as a sign of affection. Then Luxio fights Team Rocket and sends them blasting off. When Clemont, Ash, and the girls are saying goodbye to Luxio, Clemont tells Luxio to meet him in the Town Square if he still wants to be his partner. Just as they are about to give up hope of Luxio forgiving Clemont, he jumps out of the bushes and allows himself to be captured, while Clemont cries tears of joy. Now they leave happily, with Clemont's new partner in hand.

Serena brushes Fennekin and allows Bonnie to continue, making Fennekin's fur sparkly. Clemont's Chespin comes out and goes to Bonnie, who combs its hair. Suddenly, Shauna and Bulbasaur appear, greeting the group. Shauna reports that Aria will make an appearance at a Pokémon Showcase. Serena is excited to finally see Aria, the Kalos Queen and Pokévisionist, in person. In the theater, the heroes watch the Showcase. Team Rocket watch it too, and James explains to Meowth that Performers show off their Pokémon in various ways, though Jessie is not pleased with the idea. The host, Monsieur Pierre, appears and introduces Aria. Aria's Braixen appears, who shows off its gracefulness. Braixen uses Fire Spin, presenting Aria. Braixen throws the branch to Aria, who throws it back to Braixen, landing it on Braixen's head. Using Fire Blast, Aria and Braixen end the show. Everyone is impressed, though Jessie thinks she can do much better. The next Performers are Kayleigh and her Furfrou, and the latter jumps through the ring Kayleigh holds up. Shauna tells Serena that if someone wins the Theme Performance, they can proceed to the Freestyle Performance. Using Double Team, Furfrou jumps with the illusions through the ring, then spins. Suddenly, a Pancham appears, who is also spinning. Pancham jumps on a reflector, but breaks it down, causing it to fall. Pancham pushes a cart against the stage crew, who try to get it, and then escapes. Later, the heroes compliment Aria's performance. Shauna admits she is going to enter the Showcases, too, though she needs to train first. Shauna leaves, and the heroes notice Chespin trying to imitate Braixen's moves, but failing. Suddenly, the Pancham from before throws a stick at Chespin and taunts him. Chespin tracks it down, and the heroes try to follow it. With a fork in the road, Ash and Serena split, while Bonnie and Clemont go another way. Ash is the first to find Pancham, who takes his hat and runs off. It then encounters Clemont and steals his glasses. Clemont tries to run after it and bumps into something. Clemont apologizes, but Bonnie points out it is just a rock. Serena and Fennekin find Pancham and observe as it leaps. Serena realizes that Pancham just wants to perform and runs towards it. Pancham leaps away, into its cave, where it has gathered a lot of objects for its performances. Serena offers Pancham her favorite sunglasses in exchange for Ash's hat and Clemont's glasses, but Pancham still runs off. Meanwhile, Clemont and Bonnie encounter Chespin. Clemont wonders where Pancham is, as he cannot see without his glasses. Ash arrives and notices that Clemont's glasses have been taken. Clemont is terrified that he might talk to rocks and trees again. They find Pancham, who is sleeping. Chespin wakes Pancham up, while Ash and Clemont demand their stuff back. Serena arrives and expresses her wish to catch Pancham. Serena points out that Pancham likes performing. She gives Clemont his glasses and Ash his hat back. Serena feels that Pancham wants to participate in Showcases, making it blush. Serena has decided to participate in the Showcases, which is why she wants to catch Pancham. Fennekin and Pancham are ready to battle. Fennekin goes to Scratch Pancham, but gets captured by Team Rocket. They heard that Serena wants to participate in Showcases, but Jessie tells her that one needs to be beautiful to participate, unlike Queen Aria. They fly off, but Ash sends out his Fletchinder, who uses Razor Wind, cutting the balloon. They come to the site, where Pancham uses Stone Edge, hitting Team Rocket. Meowth translates Pancham's words and says that Pancham does not want anyone to interfere with its battle against Fennekin. Jessie and James send out Pumpkaboo and Inkay. Inkay uses Psybeam, but misses. Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball, but it gets countered by Pancham's Dark Pulse. Pancham uses Dark Pulse on Inkay, while Chespin uses Pin Missile on Pumpkaboo. Meanwhile, Pikachu, Dedenne, and Pancham try to free Fennekin from the net surrounding it. Jessie stands with Pumpkaboo over them, and the latter uses Shadow Ball. Serena runs and tackles Pumpkaboo, preventing that move from hitting them. Jessie is enraged, so Pumpkaboo goes to use Leech Seed. Pancham, Pikachu, and Dedenne free Fennekin, and Pancham uses Dark Pulse on Pumpkaboo. Chespin bashes Inkay, Pumpkaboo, and Meowth to Jessie and James, and Pikachu blasts them off with Thunderbolt. Serena thanks Pancham and asks it to battle Fennekin again. Pancham agrees and later is on the battlefield with Fennekin. It starts with Dark Pulse, though Fennekin jumps, dodging it and uses Flamethrower on Pancham. Pancham uses Arm Thrust, hitting Fennekin, who retaliates with Flamethrower. Pancham avoids the attack and uses Arm Thrust once more, though Fennekin hits it with Hidden Power. Serena uses a Poké Ball to catch Pancham, but Pancham comes out immediately. Fennekin uses Flamethrower and Hidden Power on Pancham, weakening it. Serena begs Pancham to join her to perform on Showcases, throwing her Poké Ball and finally catching Pancham. Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie congratulate her, and Serena sends out her newly-caught Pancham. She expresses her desire to become a better Performer than Aria, placing her sunglasses on Pancham. Ash and Clemont promise to fulfill their dreams. Serena asks Pancham and Fennekin to do their best in becoming Performers.

She whispers to James and Meowth to do something, though they order her to put the hypnosis device on Salamence. She does so, keeping Salamence calm. However, it bashes onto the wall, becoming angry. Jessie and Pumpkaboo run out, while James and Meowth wonder if the device is broken. The Salamence attacks, blasting Meowth and Pumpkaboo off, while it flies off. The heroes enter a Pokémon Center. Wigglytuff comes, but trips over and scatters the Poké Balls it was holding. The heroes help it collect the Balls back, though Wigglytuff falls down once more. Nurse Joy comes and helps Wigglytuff, telling the heroes it is new to the Center. A van comes, so the heroes and Nurse Joy head outside to see a wounded Linoone and Bidoof. Wigglytuff goes to help, but falls down. Serena and Bonnie get Linoone into the Center. Clemont dramatically takes out his Aipom Arm to get Bidoof, but Ash has beaten him to it, already carrying Bidoof into the Center. However, a new van appears, so Joy and Clemont go to help more Pokémon. They bring in Meowth and Pumpkaboo, while Jessie and James, dressed as paramedics, see that the twerps are here as well. Clemont goes inside, but Wigglytuff bumps into him. Meowth flies into the air, so Wigglytuff goes to help him. However, Wigglytuff's head bumps into Meowth, and Meowth is knocked onto the wall, displeasing Jessie and James. Nurse Joy apologizes, though hears another van and brings a Teddiursa inside as well. A while later, Joy has healed the Pokémon. Wigglytuff carries Teddiursa, but trips over, causing Teddiursa to be blown away. Its Trainer catches it, making Teddiursa happy, though Wigglytuff is visibly upset. They ask the Trainer, a Pokémon Breeder, about what happened. The Breeder reports that a Salamence came and began attacking everyone. She noticed that it seemed to be in pain, so Joy promises to heal Salamence's injury. At night, Pikachu visits Wigglytuff, trying to cheer it up, but Wigglytuff remains sad. Team Rocket observes and plan on catching both Pokémon. However, Ash appears, advising Wigglytuff to visit Nurse Joy, who is worried, lifting its spirits. Later, the heroes are worried about Wiggytuff, as it is convinced it is a failure. Nurse Joy comes and assures them they shouldn't be worried about that. Bonnie takes a book about Wigglytuff and reads it. Nurse Joy recites there were Flygon that caused rampage in the area. A Wigglytuff appeared and calmed them down by itself, and then healed the injured Pokémon, restoring peace in the area. Since then, all Pokémon Centers in Kalos have had a Wigglytuff as their assistant. Joy and the heroes believe Wigglytuff will grow as a helpful assistant, ready to heal anyone. Wigglytuff cries after hearing these compliments, and rushes to Nurse Joy, but falls down. The next day, Clemont presents the Mechanized Motivator. He places it on Bonnie's head and the machine tries to motivate her. However, Bonnie is not impressed. Clemont then places it on Wigglytuff's head. The machine overloads, so Pikachu stops the machine, but it explodes anyways. Jessie and James come, dressed as paramedics, and take Pikachu and Wigglytuff, as they claim they are injured by the explosion. They take the Pokémon into the van and reveal themselves. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, but it fails, as the van is Electric-proof. Team Rocket drives off, while Joy tells the group that they have an ambulance van they can use. As Team Rocket is driving off, happy to have captured Pikachu and Wigglytuff, Meowth stops as something is blocking the road. They tell it to move, but it turns out to be a Salamence, the very same one they tried to control earlier. Meowth drives backwards, as the Salamence attacks in pursuit. The van is blown in the air, though Pikachu and Wigglytuff come out, joining the heroes and Nurse Joy. Team Rocket ask the twerps to help them, as the Salamence they tried to capture is now berserk. The heroes are unimpressed by Team Rocket's method of capture. Salamence attacks, but misses. Joy tells Salamence she can heal the pain, but Salamence uses Flamethrower against her. However, Wigglytuff uses Protect, defending Joy and itself. Ash drags Joy away, as Salamence attacks Wigglytuff. However, Wigglytuff walks to it, unharmed, and Clemont points out that Wigglytuff is a Fairy-type Pokémon, so Dragon-type attacks have no effect on it. Wigglytuff uses Heal Pulse, healing and calming Salamence down. Ash comes and takes the device from Salamence's head. The heroes and Joy are pleased at how Wigglytuff was successful. Team Rocket is relieved, but gets blasted off by Salamence. Later, Joy thanks the heroes, though Ash points out that Wigglytuff should be given the credit, instead. Joy asks Wigglytuff to be her assistant, touching Wigglytuff. Pikachu comes to Wigglytuff, comforting it. The heroes bid farewell to Joy and Wigglytuff, who decides to become Joy's assistant.

Gurkinn is the referee and says that this battle is 3-on-3 and only Ash is able to make substitutions. Korrina releases Mienfoo as her first choice as Serena checks it on her Pokédex. Ash sends out Hawlucha to battle Mienfoo. Ash tries to use Tierno's strategy but Hawlucha gets hit by a High Jump Kick despite using a rhythm to avoid. Mienfoo uses Drain Punch next, which Ash tells Hawlucha to block, but it still got hit, getting its energy drained. Ash tells Hawlucha to fight back with Karate Chop, but Korrina tells Mienfoo to block it with a kick. Ash is wondering why the rhythm strategy didn't work despite that Tierno's Squirtle had no problem moving around. Korrina tells Mienfoo to use Force Palm, scoring a direct hit on Hawlucha. Ash asks Hawlucha that it still battle, which it confirms. Ash tells it to use Flying Press as Korrina tells Mienfoo to counter with Swift as Ash states that its not a Fighting-Type move. Ash tells Hawlucha to use a rhythm, but Hawlucha still got hit. Ash has no idea how he is going to win and while looking up towards Serena, has a flashback about the dancing practice from the other day. Following Serena's advice, Ash decides to use his own strategy and in the middle of the fight, Mienfoo uses High Jump Kick as Hawlucha waits for the right moment to lure it in. On Ash's orders it perfectly dodges Mienfoo's High Jump Kick (with the latter suffering recoil damage). Hawlucha uses Karate Chop and it hits Mienfoo. Korrina tells Mienfoo to fight back with Force Palm as Ash tells Hawlucha to use Flying Press. It dodged Mienfoo’s Force Palm and scores a direct hit with Flying Press, knocking Mienfoo out. Meanwhile, Team Rocket shows up and are planning to steal Pokémon while the others are distracted during Ash and Korrina's battle. As Korrina recalls Mienfoo, she sends out Machoke. Ash recalls Hawlucha and sends out Fletchinder. Fletchinder starts with Flame Charge but Machoke manages to avoid it and attacks Fletchinder with Brick Break and sends it tumbling to the ground. Fletchinder manages to get up, but also gets hit by Machoke's Low Sweep. Still hanging in there, Fletchinder uses Steel Wing, but Machoke blocks it. Machoke manages to throw Fletchinder, but it holds on and launches a Razor Wind which damages Machoke a little. Fletchinder attacks again with Flame Charge with Machoke preparing to use Focus Blast, but Fletchinder dodges and hits Machoke, knocking it out. Korrina recalls Machoke and sends out her last Pokémon, Lucario. After sending Lucario out, Korrina Mega Evolves it. Ash decides to keep Fletchinder in since it has a type advantage against Lucario. Fletchinder attacks with Flame Charge while Lucario uses Metal Sound. Fletchinder struggles a little bit, but still manages to score a hit on Lucario. Team Rocket, while watching the battle, waits for the right moment to do their evil deed. Lucario uses Aura Sphere, but Fletchinder managed to block with Steel Wing. While the smoke clears, Lucario comes up behind Fletchinder and uses Power-Up Punch, knocking Fletchinder out. Ash recalls Fletchinder and sends Hawlucha again to battle Korrina's Lucario. Ash tells Hawlucha to use Karate Chop. As Ash's friends cheer for him and Hawlucha, Team Rocket is running down the hall, attempting to steal Pikachu. However, as they are about to go further, Froakie sees them and uses its Frubbles to stop them in their tracks. The friends also notice them and ask them why they're here. Team Rocket states that they are just doing their job and tells the friends to stay out of their way. Froakie (according to Meowth) retorts that Team Rocket is actually the one in the way of the battle. The friends also tell them that they're not going to interfere with Ash's battle. Team Rocket, wasting no time, sends out Pumpkaboo and Inkay to battle. As the Pokémon is about to hit the friends with Shadow Ball and Psybeam, Froakie steps in and uses its Frubbles to block the attacks, much to Team Rocket's shock. Quickly, Clemont sends out Chespin and Serena sends out Fennekin. By their Trainers' orders, they use Pin Missile and Flamethrower to send Team Rocket blasting off. During the battle, Ash, who is still battling and didn’t notice Team Rocket, asks his friends if something happened, but Serena replies that nothing happened. As the others cheer, Hawlucha attempts to use Flying Press but Lucario hits it hard with Bone Rush. Before Hawlucha can strike back, Lucario uses Aura Sphere which sends Hawlucha flying into the wall. After the smoke clears, it is revealed that Hawlucha is knocked out. After recalling Hawlucha and remarking that Korrina and Lucario have gotten much stronger from training, Ash sends out Pikachu as his last Pokémon to battle Lucario. After a pause, Serena asks why neither Ash nor Korrina are making a move yet, which Clemont replies that their Pokémon can’t afford to lose the battle and that they’re being extra careful. Starting off, Ash tells Pikachu to use Quick Attack as Korrina tells Lucario to draw it in. Still running, Pikachu prepares to use Electro Ball while Lucario uses Bone Rush. Pikachu manages to strike but Lucario’s Bone Rush sends the attack flying towards the ceiling. Pikachu uses Iron Tail next, but Lucario blocks it and sends Pikachu flying. Ash, tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt while in mid-air. Pikachu scores a direct hit on Lucario, much to Korrina’s surprise. Lucario uses Aura Sphere and Pikachu gets hit but still manages to hang in there as he releases lightning bolts in determination. Lucario uses Metal Sound, immobilizing Pikachu. Thinking fast, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to stop Lucario’s Metal Sound. Lucario also uses Aura Sphere, but Pikachu manages to deflects it with his Iron Tail, as Clemont states that’s the same Draco Meteor Climb Strategy from the Cyllage Gym Battle with Grant. Korrina tells Lucario to use Bone Rush as Ash tells Pikachu to use another Iron Tail to block. During the collision, they’re both hurt but standing. Lucario uses Power-Up Punch as Pikachu uses Iron Tail and both attacks clashed. Pikachu uses Electro Ball while Lucario uses Aura Sphere and the attacks also clashed. Finally, Pikachu uses a Thunderbolt that hits Lucario which it wasn't able to dodge, knocking Lucario out and returning it to its normal Form. Ash congratulates his Pokémon on the hard work they did and Ash receives the Rumble Badge from Korrina. Ash then questions where he shall go next and Gurkinn says to him that he should go to Coumarine City where, according to Serena, there’s a monorail. Ash and his friends set off for Coumarine City to get his fourth Gym Badge. Before leaving, Korrina bumps fists with Ash and tells him to come back soon and Ash agrees. Pikachu and Lucario also bumped fists hoping that they would meet again someday. After saying goodbye, the heroes continue their journey.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket, still disguised as chefs, are spying on the group. They plan to steal Team Squirtle's Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur so that they will be able to lure in Pikachu who will be bound to come and rescue them. But using the stolen Pokémon as a shield, they plan to catch Pikachu who will be unable to attack Team Rocket. They are then summoned by Madame Catherine who asks them to cook food, but as she leaves, they reveal that they will no longer be acting as chefs at the Summer Camp. Team Rocket then approach Tierno's group. As 'kudos', Team Rocket offer their Pokémon a health check-up, lying that Nurse Joy is busy with Pikachu and the others. The three hand over their Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbsaur into a cart. Team Rocket then run off into the woods, and Jessie commands Pumpkaboo to use Leech Seed, trapping Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur inside the cart. At the Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy hands over Pikachu, Fennekin, and Bunnelby to Ash and his group. Tierno and the group then arrive, asking Nurse Joy for their Pokémon. However, Nurse Joy becomes puzzled as she had not received their Pokémon. Tierno's group then explain that they had handed their Pokémon over to the Summer Camp chefs and that it had been awhile ago. At Ash's advice, the groups decide to split up to look for them. But just as they leave the Pokémon Center, Bunnelby and Fennekin already begin to sense where Team Rocket are, and then run off in one direction. Soon, the two groups find Team Rocket with Madame Catherine, who is asking Team Rocket where they had been. At Fennekin's insistence, Pikachu pulls off the cloth covering Team Rocket's cart, revealing Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur trapped inside. Team Rocket then reveal their true identities, and call out Pumpkaboo and Inkay. They threaten to Ash and his friends that if they attack, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur will be harmed, and then instead offers Pikachu to join Team Rocket. But then out of the ground, Bunnelby hits Team Rocket with a surprise Dig. With this opening, Froakie and Fennekin run toward Team Rocket. Froakie uses its frubbles on Pumpkaboo and Inkay, while Fennekin uses Scratch, freeing the three trapped Pokémon. Froakie then uses Cut on the whole cart to break the cart in half. Pikachu finishes off with Thunderbolt, causing Team Rocket to blast off. In the afternoon, the final battle commences with Team Froakie's Pikachu, Chespin, and Fennekin, against Team Squirtle's Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. Pikachu begins with Quick Attack, and Trevor's Charmander attempts to stop it with Flamethrower. However, this is blocked by Fennekin's own Flamethrower, protecting Pikachu. Pikachu then attacks Squirtle, but Squirtle's Rapid Spin deflects and throws Pikachu away. Squirtle then hits Fennekin with Water Gun. Chespin retaliates Vine Whip on Squirtle, which is deflected again by Squirtle's spin. Trevor then commands Charmander to use Flame Burst on Chespin, with its embers also hitting Pikachu next to Chespin. Bulbasaur uses Razor Leaf, hitting all three Pokémon. Bulbasaur then proceeds with charging up Solar Beam, and Tierno and Trevor plan to buy Bulbasaur some time. Tierno commands Squirtle to use Aqua Tail, which overpowers Fennekin's Hidden Power, causing Fennekin to faint. Charmander uses Flamethrower, which Pikachu dodges, but then Bulbasaur fires off its now-ready Solar Beam at Pikachu. Clemont commands Chespin to use Vine Whip, which picks up Pikachu, narrowly avoiding the Solar Beam. Pikachu then hits Charmander with Thunderbolt, causing it to faint. Chespin's Vine Whip then blocks Squirtle's Rapid Spin, while Pikachu fires off a surprise Electro Ball, making Bulbasaur unable to battle. Squirtle then uses Aqua Tail which Pikachu dodges. Pikachu retaliates with Thunderbolt, causing Squirtle to faint. Team Froakie are then announced to be the winners, allowing their names to be put into the Hall of Fame. On the final night, fireworks light up the sky, celebrating the week at the Summer Camp. Ash approaches Tierno and asks Tierno to show him his rhythmic battle style to prepare his battle at the Shalour Gym. Back at the lodge, Tierno teaches Ash and his Pokémon how to 'move and groove'. Ash is surprised that he must also move and groove along with the Pokémon. Next morning, Professor Sycamore officially announces the end of the camp.

Another day at the Pokémon Summer Camp rolls in, and the participants are all prepared to start the next activity. For the day, Professor Sycamore announces that the participants will participate in a competition of Pokémon Orienteering, where the participants will all race to find all of the stamps around the campgrounds, and whoever is first will be the winner. Team Froakie and Team Squirtle are both exceptionally determined to win the competition, as they prepare. Soon, all of the teams are at the starting line of the race. All of the teams are provided maps to navigate through the checkpoints. Sycamore declares the race begun, and the teams all run off to compete for all of the stamps. Professor Sycamore monitors all of the checkpoints of the race and keeps in contact with his assistants who keep watch over all of the checkpoints. Team Froakie and Team Squirtle both reach checkpoint one first, and Ash and Tierno both climb up the cliff to see the stamp point. Froakie and Squirtle aid them in this endeavor. However, Ash reaches the checkpoint first and receives the stamp. Meanwhile, the next checkpoint is atop a bridge. This time, Serena and Shauna are up to reach the checkpoint, but Serena expresses immense acrophobia as she crawls across the bridge in extreme fear, and Shauna reaches the checkpoint as Serena is too scared to cross the bridge quickly. Shauna then runs off while Serena is still on the bridge and grabbing on in her continued fear. She eventually tags her map, still stressed, and walks off. The next checkpoint is within a maze, and Clemont and Trevor then race through the maze. Clemont eventually reaches the checkpoint and wins first. However, as the teams then reunite, they run through the forest, only to find themselves in a fog that clouds everything. Ash, being unable to see anything in the thick fog, runs into a tree. Team Froakie is lost, and Bonnie winds up separated from the group along with Pikachu. She is lost and calls out to Ash, Serena, and Clemont. As they try to search for them, Bonnie and Pikachu then notice that flowers are suddenly blooming. A bizarre Pokémon then runs past them, much to their amazement. Bonnie runs after it. Soon, Team Froakie runs into Team Squirtle. The two join efforts to try and find Bonnie and Pikachu. Ash sends out his Fletchinder to find them. Meanwhile, Bonnie and Pikachu accidentally enrage a swarm of Beedrill, but Pikachu wards them off. Soon, they run into an Amoonguss, who uses Spore on them, and Bonnie quickly falls asleep, falling off of a cliff in the process, only to be saved by a Drifblim. Team Froakie and Team Squirtle run into and anger the same Amoonguss from before, who tries to attack them, but Froakie and Pikachu ward it off. Soon, they see Bonnie on the other side of a large valley separating them from her. Clemont notices a group of Drifblim at the bottom of the valley and suggests that they awaken them to form a large float for them to get across. They use their Pokémon to awaken the Drifblim, and Ash jumps across all of them and retrieves Bonnie, then jumps back up the Drifblim. However, he falls short of reaching the other side, and he and Bonnie almost fall down the canyon. All of his friends struggle to grab onto him and pull him up, and eventually succeed. After a while, Bonnie wakes up from her sleep. Just as she then excitedly tells them that she saw an incredible Pokémon who had amazing power, said Pokémon appears on the other side of the cliff. Although there is a thick fog surrounding it, it is clear that there is an X Pokémon who faces them, with its horns shimmering brightly. Before Ash can scan it with his Pokédex or Trevor can take a picture of it, however, it quickly runs off. Team Froakie and Team Squirtle ultimately lose, but they congratulate the winning teams.

As the Pokémon Summer Camp continues, the narrator restates what happened the day before. As the day begins, Ash and his friends are all doing a morning jog, and Clemont falls behind substantially. Later, Ash, his friends, Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor all participate in a fishing competition, where they all fish for Water-type Pokémon. Though they all fish out many Pokémon, Trevor gives Team Squirtle the win by fishing out a Wailord, the largest capture of them all, in stark contrast to the mere Magikarp and Tentacool that Tierno and Shauna reeled out. As the fishing competition ends, everyone from the camp gathers around in a room as Professor Sycamore introduces the major activity of the day: a Pokévision showdown. He declares that each team must make a Pokévision video, and that the team with the best Pokévision video wins for the day. Later on, Team Froakie returns to their cabin. Serena reveals to the group her plans for the Pokévision video, which she maps out through drawings. Ash and his friends all agree to the plan. Serena and Bonnie then begin preparing Poké Puffs at the main hall, along with Shauna. As they do so, however, Shauna then explains to Serena what a Pokémon Performer is. She explains that a Pokémon Performer participates in competitions called Pokémon Showcases. They participate in a first round where they can stylize their Pokémon and then show them off, and then there is a Freestyle Performance where the Performers use their moves in combination. This becomes mildly appealing to Serena and Bonnie as they are intrigued by this kind of idea. Shauna then goes on to explain that after winning three Showcases, a Performer heads onto the Master Class, and after winning there, they can earn the title of Kalos Queen. She then states that Aria is currently the Kalos Queen. It is also revealed that Aria's Fennekin is now a Braixen. Later on, Ash and his friends begin their Pokévision, and on the beach Team Squirtle begins their own. Serena begins running to an intriguing location to start the video, but she falls off the cliff. Ash quickly tries to save her, but also ends up falling with her. They both fall face down into the base of the cliff, while Clemont and Bonnie go seek help. Ash and Serena are then alone down in the cliff. Ash has injured his foot by this time, but Serena helps nurse it with a wet cloth. The two then have a personal conversation. Ash talks about his own dream, which is to become a Pokémon Master, and says that Serena should take her time to find her own goal. Serena remarks on how amazing Ash is, to his own surprise. Later, they express their bonds with their respective starter Pokémon. Soon enough, Professor Sycamore arrives with Clemont, Bonnie, and Team Squirtle, along with Team Rocket in disguise, who show up as rescue workers. They show up with ropes and help Ash and Serena get up the cliff. Team Froakie then finds a large plain, ideal for making the Pokévision video. They proceed to record the video there. The scene then changes to nighttime. All of the teams have finished recording their videos and are in the main hall to watch all of them. Team Squirtle has a video showing off each of their respective Pokémon. Later, many other Pokévisions are shown and everyone watches. Shauna and Serena then go outside to the docks to have a personal conversation. Motivated by the events earlier on in the day, Serena decides that she wants to become a Pokémon Performer. Later, the votes roll in. Team Froakie has won the competition in first place, with Team Chikorita and Team Charmander in second and third place, respectively. The groups then go on to continue their Summer Camp experience.

As the episode begins, Professor Sycamore is seen on a screen, advertising the Pokémon Summer Camp, which lasts one week, and its purpose to bring Trainers and Pokemon closer together by interacting with other trainers. As he finishes his invitation speech, Ash and his friends arrive at the Pokémon Summer Camp, and all of them are dazzled at the site of the camp, as well as the seaside. As they are admiring the view, Professor Sycamore calls out to them. They talk to the professor a bit, and Ash talks about how he had seen Korrina and her Mega Lucario, which the professor wishes he could have seen. Meanwhile, Team Rocket, who have been hired as chefs for the camp, are carrying food while they pass by and see Ash and his friends, having known that they would attend the camp, and quietly discuss plans to steal Pikachu and everyone's Pokémon. However, they are interrupted by the custodian, Madame Catherine, who keeps a close eye on them. Meanwhile, Sophie assigns Ash and his friends to a cabin to stay in for the program. They are assigned to the Froakie cabin, which therefore identifies the group as "Team Froakie". The group takes an enjoyment to the inside of the cabin, and like the overall conditions. While Ash looks out the window, Clemont notes how this is somewhat reminiscent of the time Ash and Serena first met. Ash agrees and tells Serena that they should make this experience a good one, which she concurs. As Ash looks out the window, he sees an ongoing battle between a Squirtle and Conkeldurr outside. Ash and his friends go outside to watch the battle, and they are all impressed at Squirtle's mobility. The Squirtle's trainer then shows off his "dance" methods of battling, much to the dismay of the opponent. Squirtle uses its dance techniques to quickly dodge Conkeldurr's attacks, and soon defeats Conkeldurr with Skull Bash. The Conkeldurr's trainer then admits that he has never had quite a unique battle, while the Squirtle's Trainer makes a remark on how that's his battling style. Ash, impressed, comes up and challenges the trainer, while he introduces himself as Tierno. The two greet each other, and Tierno explains that he is part of "Team Squirtle". Meanwhile, after the two greet, Tierno quickly takes notice of Serena, and recognizing her, quickly runs off. He comes back, bringing a girl, and asks her if Serena is the particular girl that she recognizes. The girl is awed that she is seeing Serena in person. This causes Serena to question how the girl knows her, to which she explains that she saw her Pokévision video from several episodes before, much to Serena's surprise. As the group begins to remember what Pokévision is, Clemont then is quickly flabbergasted at the thought of his rather disastrous Pokévision being seen by the public. However, Bonnie says that she made the video so that everyone could view it, much to Clemont's dismay. Meanwhile, the girl introduces herself as Shauna, and expresses her admiration of Serena's promotion video, while she is thanked by a flattered Serena. The group, along with Tierno and Shauna, go to the nearby Pokémon Center, and Tierno heals up his Squirtle. Meanwhile, Shauna elaborates on how Pokévision videos are viewed, and quickly shows Serena's Pokévision, which has a relatively large amount of views. Shauna then shows one of her many Pokévisions, particularly one with her Bulbasaur, while she reveals that she also has Pokévisions with a Flabébé, Swirlix, and Gothita. Upon Shauna's request, Serena sends out her Fennekin, and Shauna takes a liking to it. Meanwhile, Shauna sends out her Bulbasaur, while Pikachu and Fennekin try to greet it. However, much to their dismay, Bulbasaur simply refuses to interact with them and turns away. Chespin quickly pops out of its Poké Ball to happily join the interaction, and Froakie also joins. Serena also gives them all PokéPuffs to enjoy, but Bulbasaur refuses to take one until Shauna directly gives one to it. Shauna explains that Bulbasaur isn't very sociable, and is only willing to interact with her. Meanwhile, as the Pokémon interact, a hyper Charmander quickly joins in and runs around spouting flames in happiness, much to the surprise of many of the Pokemon, while Chespin catches fire. However, Squirtle douses the flames. As Clemont notes on how this completes the Kanto starter trio, he then wonders where the Charmander's Trainer is. Its Trainer soon slowly climbs up the stairs, tired from chasing down Charmander. He apologizes to Tierno and Shauna for being late. As he comes in, he quickly apologizes for the small chaos caused by his Charmander, and introduces himself as Trevor. The group says that everything is alright, however. As he looks up to see the group, he also quickly recognizes Serena, and explains that Shauna had forced him into watching her Pokévision. Serena is quickly flattered by this. Tierno exclaims that the video was extremely cute, and Shauna explains that Tierno is very easily infatuated. Trevor also takes a picture of Pikachu, and explains to Ash that he aims to see every Pokémon in the Pokédex. Meanwhile, the children all introduce themselves to one another, and Ash also states that his dream is to become a Pokémon Master. This surprises Serena, which causes her to become slightly curious on pursuing a dream. Meanwhile, everyone in the Summer Camp is brought to an orientation. Professor Sycamore introduces the group to the custodian, Madame Catherine, as well as the chefs, which are Team Rocket in disguise. He also mentions that Diantha had participated in the Summer Camp when she was younger, and managed to place in the Hall of Fame. He then initiates that everyone participate in a one-on-one battle, with no points gained, so that the participants can all get to know each other. Ash, Serena, and Clemont choose Tierno, Shauna, and Trevor as their respective battle opponents. Bonnie serves as an audience for Ash's battle with Tierno. While Serena is battling Shauna, she feels nervous because she has never had an official Pokémon battle before, much to Shauna's dismay. She orders Fennekin to use Flamethrower, while Shauna orders Bulbasaur to use Energy Ball. Despite the type disadvantage, Bulbasaur quickly manages to overpower Fennekin's attack, much to Serena's surprise. Meanwhile, as Clemont is battling Trevor, Charmander quickly manages to set Chespin on fire, which causes it to jump into the sand to douse the flame. During Ash's battle with Tierno, Froakie is quickly outmaneuvered by Squirtle, and Squirtle manages to touch Froakie, which causes it to dismantle its Water Pulse. Tierno is declared the winner, and the rest of the battles are completed. While everyone is at dinner, the children all talk about their goals. Shauna aims to become a famous Pokémon Performer, and Tierno aims to form a dance unit with his Pokémon. Clemont talks about how he is an aspiring inventor, and presents his Aipom Arm, which impresses the other children. Meanwhile, Team Rocket gets a raise from Madame Catherine, as the food they had cooked had received positive reviews. As the episode ends, Serena is out on the dock, brushing Fennekin's tail as usual. As she brushes, she makes note of how all of her friends are pursuing their dreams, and begins to ask an important question to herself: What is her goal in her journey?

Ash is training with Froakie (as it uses Pound on a waterfall) for their upcoming Gym battle against Korrina as his friends watch and they all notice how pumped up Ash is for the Gym Battle. Just then, a piece of wood falls and is about to hit Pikachu but Froakie saves him by using its newly learned Cut. Ash remembers the first time he and Froakie met when Froakie saved Pikachu from Team Rocket when they tried to steal him. Ash congratulates Froakie on learning Cut and thanks it for saving Pikachu, and Pikachu also thanks Froakie. Clemont suggests having a Double Battle, and Ash accepts. Clemont and Ash are ready to begin, and Clemont is about to call out his first Pokémon, but before he can Chespin comes out of its Poké Ball ready to battle. Clemont also goes with Bunnelby. Ash decides that Froakie's partner will be Hawlucha. When Hawlucha is called out it stands in a pose as Bonnie referees. Ash tells Hawlucha and Froakie to work together as a team, and before any battling begins Hawlucha holds out a fist to get a fist bump from Froakie. Froakie hesitates, but it does eventually give Hawlucha a fist bump and the battle begins. Clemont goes first telling Chespin to use Tackle on Froakie and Clemont tells Bunnelby to use Double Slap on Hawlucha. Ash tells Froakie and Hawlucha to dodge. Hawlucha, however, doesn't dodge and just takes the Double Slap hits from Bunnelby. Ash is impressed to see Hawlucha testing Bunnlby's strength, but Froakie isn't impressed. Ash tells Froakie to use Bubble and Hawlucha to intercept with Karate Chop. Clemont commands Chespin to use Vine Whip while Bunnelby keeps using Double Slap. Both Bunnelby and Hawlucha took hits as Clemont then tells Bunnelby to use Mud Shot on Hawlucha. As Bunnelby gets ready, Ash tells Froakie to use Water Pulse on Bunnelby to help Hawlucha out. This is where everything gets intense. Froakie uses Water Pulse on Bunnelby which is a successful hit, and this makes Hawlucha furious. It goes over to Froakie and begins yelling at it for getting in its way. As Chespin uses Pin Missile, Froakie dodges and the pins ended up hitting Bunnelby instead, getting knocked out in the process. Soon, Hawlucha gets so furious with Froakie that it uses High Jump Kick on it. Now Froakie's the one who's furious and it attacks Hawlucha with Cut. Hawlucha attempts to use Flying Press on Froakie, but gets confused because Froakie uses Double Team. Soon Ash breaks up the fight and tells Hawlucha and Froakie to stop, and the battle is called off. Ash takes Froakie and Hawlucha away from the rest of the group and tells them they need to work together because they're on the same team. He comes up with a combo move for the two of them which he calls the "Super Flying Cut". It starts out with Froakie riding on Hawlucha's back, and then it jumps and uses Cut, and then Hawlucha finishes with Flying Press. Ash decides to start working on training, but Hawlucha stops Ash and tells him it thinks it and Froakie should make up for their argument first, and it extends its hand to Froakie attempting to apologize to it, but it turns away. Ash tells Froakie to make up with Hawlucha, but it still won't, and this causes more fighting between the two. Meanwhile, Clemont is making lunch for the group, and Serena gets out a basket of homemade Poké Puffs for the Pokémon, which makes most of them happy, but Chespin nervous. When Serena opens up the box, the Poké Puffs are gone. The gang demands the Pokémon to fess up to eating them, but they all shake their heads, expect Chespin who looks the other way. Serena remarks that even if no one will admit it, she'll know who the culprit is because she put in spicy Poké Puffs specially for Fennekin. All of a sudden, Chespin turns red and fire shoots out of its mouth, revealing Chespin was the one who ate all the Poké Puffs much to Serena, Bonnie and the Pokémon's anger. Off near the forest Ash is attempting to work on "Super Flying Cut" with Hawlucha and Froakie, but the two keep getting angry at each other and the bickering continues. Ash is fed up at this point and scolds the two for their behavior. He starts to instruct them to use the combo again, but he is dragged into the forest by a wild Trevenant. His friends hear the noise and rush over to see what's wrong. Meanwhile in the forest, Ash sees he's being carried away by Trevenant and scans it with his Pokédex. He tells Trevenant he'd never do anything to hurt the forest and yells at it to let him go. Hawlucha and Froakie see this and attempts to rescue their trainer but they get caught in vines. They look at each other and growl angrily before looking the opposite direction. Froakie begins swinging itself back and forth to try and shake loose from the vine, and Hawlucha does the same, but the two end up crashing into each other, causing them to argue once again, and this is enough to make the vines snap and free them. Froakie then sees Ash's hat on the ground and hands it to Hawlucha who puts the hat on its head. When the two find Ash they begin to battle Trevenant. Hawlucha attempts to use High Jump Kick, and Ash explains to it that Trevenant's immune to Fighting type Moves because it's a Ghost type. After Ash gets freed from Trevenant and reasons with it, it leads him, Hawlucha, and Froakie to a net where a wild Bonsly and Sudowoodo are being held. Ash attempts to free the two Rock types but gets shocked by the net. Just then Pikachu and the others come along as Ash tells Pikachu to use Iron Tail to free the two from the net before he gets caught in one. No surprise, Team Rocket are the ones who caught Pikachu in the net. A battle begins, and Ash has Hawlucha and Froakie battle Team Rocket. Jessie's Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball, but Froakie and Hawlucha both dodge it. Froakie uses its Frubbles to blind Pumpkaboo as Hawlucha prepares to use Flying Press. But being part Ghost type, Pumpkaboo was unaffected as Jessie states that Fighting type moves won't work as Ash says he's one step ahead as Froakie uses a close range Water Pulse at Pumpkaboo, knocking it out. Clemont states that Flying Press was used to distract Pumpkaboo so Froakie will use a successful Water Pulse. After dodging James's Inkay's Tackle and Psybeam, Ash tells Hawlucha and Froakie to use "Super Flying Cut" and they get the combo perfect, knocking out Inkay. Before Team Rocket is about to leave, Trevenant then comes along and uses Wood Hammer to smash the remote and free Pikachu from the net. Pikachu then blasts Team Rocket off with Thunderbolt. With Froakie and Hawlucha having put their differences aside, Ash and his friends say goodbye to Trevenant, Bonsly, and Sudowoodo as they head off towards Ash's Shalour Gym battle.

As Ash and his friends make their way to Shalour City, Serena and Bonnie rush off to a cave, but when Clemont asks what is so special about the cave, Serena says that they will have to wait until they get inside to find out. Once everyone is inside the cave, they all see giant stones, and Serena tells them that the cave is called Reflection Cave, as Clemont, Bonnie and Serena admire the reflective, mirror-like rocks, Ash rushes off when he discovers there is more of the cave to explore. Not wanting to get left behind, everyone chases after Ash. While Ash wonders around the cave, he sees a bright light coming from behind him coming from one of the rocks, but just as he approaches the rock, the light disappears and he stares at it confused. When Ash's friends catch up with him, they run down the cave, only to come to a dead end, so they suggest looking for another way, but Ash races off again to look, as everyone follows to try to catch him up. Separated from Ash again, Serena shouts for Ash, who has come to another dead-end, so he decides he should head back, but notices he is lost as well. As Ash approaches another mirror-like rock, this one starts to shine and open like the one from earlier, but this time Ash sees himself reach out and grab Pikachu, causing Ash to shout out, alerting his friends as they rush in his direction, but only see him as he disappears through the opening in the mirror before it closes. The scene then cuts to show a light at the end of the cave, but as Ash exits the cave, he is in a forest that looks much different than ones he has seen before. Running down the path looking for Pikachu, Ash is stopped by Serena, who is different than the Serena he knows. Bonnie shows up, informing Clemont, who races past them, stops, before running back. As Ash explains what has happened to Pikachu, Serena doesn't believe him when he tells them that another him grabbed Pikachu from him, as Serena and Bonnie mock him. The three aren't convinced by Ash's story, but Serena does admit there is something different about him compared to the Ash she knows and Mirror Clemont tells them of a legend about Reflection Cave. As Ash tells the three of them that they are different to his friends back in his world, Serena gets annoyed telling him that she's the only Serena before she challenges him to a battle, telling him she'll believe him if he manages to beat her, to which he accepts. The battle begins as Mirror Serena sends out Fennekin as Ash chooses his Froakie, Fennekin starts off with Flamethrower which is countered by Froakie's Water Pulse, Serena tells Fennekin to use Scratch, but Froakie uses Double Team to avoid it, making Mirror Serena panic, as the battle finishes with Fennekin being knocked out by Bubble. Since Ash won the battle, Serena has no choice but to believe he is telling the truth just as Mirror Ash reveals himself with Ash's Pikachu. Clemont asks then what happened for Mirror Ash to get in this situation, to which he explains that after losing to Serena, he ran into Reflection Cave, but shortly loses sight of Pikachu, so when he saw Ash's Pikachu, he grabbed him thinking he was his. Ash then asks what Mirror Ash's Pikachu is like, to which he explains he is wild and aggressive as the scene cuts to Team Rocket trying to capture Mirror Ash's Pikachu. Pikachu uses Iron Tail to send Meowth flying into James as Jessie catches the device and captures Pikachu in it. Ash tells Mirror Ash that he can't leave him knowing he's in trouble and offers to help him find his Pikachu while Mirror Serena wonders how they are going to find Pikachu, to which Mirror Clemont laughs to himself. Back with Clemont, Bonnie and Serena of the other world, they wonder how they are going to get Ash back, as Clemont reveals his new invention called the "Other Dimension Converter", which doesn't work and ends up blowing up, but back in the Mirror World, Mirror Clemont reveals he has a magic spell prepared for the situation and draws a lightning bolt shape on the ground as he proceeds to put his staff in the middle and says that whichever direction it falls in will be the direction they need to search for Pikachu in as Mirror Bonnie compliments her brother, real world Bonnie shouts at Clemont for his failed invention as a clearly upset Serena wonders if Ash has disappeared forever. Back with Team Rocket, Mirror Ash's Pikachu continuously uses Thunderbolt on his cage as he tries to break free, just as James notices there are people approaching the area. Ash reveals that they have reached a dead end, to which Mirror Serena wonders where Pikachu could be as Team Rocket observe them and Pikachu as they plan to capture him as well. Mirror Ash then starts to get upset at the thought over never seeing Pikachu again, but Ash tells him not to cry and not give up if he wants to find Pikachu, but just then, Ash's Pikachu is captured as everyone looks in shock. Ash recognises the group as Team Rocket, but the Mirror World Group don't know who they are, claiming that they are known as "The Heroes of Justice", which confuses Ash, as Mirror Ash notices that Team Rocket also have his Pikachu. Ash orders them to let the Pikachu go, but instead, Team Rocket send out Inkay and Pumpkaboo, Ash then tells Mirror Ash that they should battle too and both send out Hawlucha. The two Ash order their Hawlucha to use Karate Chop on Pumpkaboo and Inkay, but as Ash's Hawlucha charges in forcefully and hits Inkay, Mirror Ash's Hawlucha jogs slowly and worried, missing Pumpkaboo as it is tackled by it. James orders Inkay to fire Psybeam at Hawlucha, but Ash's Hawlucha steps in the way, taking the hit but becomeing confused in the process, preparing to step on Mirror Ash's Hawlucha before it is returned to its Poké Ball by Ash as Pumpkaboo hits Mirror Ash's Hawlucha into Mirror Ash before being returned too. Mirror Ash then starts to cry, but Ash tells him nothing will be solved by him crying and that they haven't lost yet, so they shouldn't give up. Mirror Clemont then picks up the two cages containing the Pikachu, but is seen by Meowth, panicking, Clemont stands on Meowth and dodging Jessie and James's attempts to stop him as he throws the cages into the air, which Serena has her Fennekin use Hidden Power on them, breaking them and freeing the two Pikachu before they land in front of their trainers before both Ash and Mirror Ash order their Pikachu to blast Team Rocket off with Thunderbolt. After receiving praise from the Mirror World group, Mirror Serena tells them it will be dark soon, which makes Mirror Clemont remember about the legend of Reflection Cave and that anyone stuck in the Mirror World after sunset will be stuck there forever. As Ash and the Mirror World group arrive back at Reflection Cave, Mirror Ash explains how he opened up the portal to the other world. Ash then starts wishing hard to travel with his friends again, Clemont, Bonnie and Serena do the same until a portal opens up on both sides, allowing them to see one another between the two worlds. As they all say how much they want Ash back, the portals float closer and closer, but soon start to move apart, resulting in Ash holding Pikachu and jumping across, reaching out to his friends as he starts to fall, but Serena grabs his hand and they all pull him up. Everyone says goodbye to each other as they promise to meet again, and once the two portals close, Ash states that the group from the Mirror World are going to continue their journey together and that they should do the same. As they exit Reflection Cave, it is starting to get dark too. Serena asks Ash if they will always be together on their journey to, as Ash tells her that he wouldn't want it to be any other way as Bonnie and Clemont state that they are a team and always will be. They all leave to continue their journey to Shalour City. Following their strange experience in Reflection Cave, it's off to the Pokémon Center, as our heroes' journey continues. As Ash and his friends are continuing their journey, they come across a large canyon. The group looks at the canyon in awe, admiring the very appearance of it. They decide to bring out their Pokémon for a break and Ash's new Hawlucha startles Fletchling. Ash introduces Hawlucha to the group, and almost everyone seemed excited to meet their new friend, with the exception of Froakie, who didn't seem as excited as everyone else since he already met and battled Hawlucha. Just as they are talking about the canyon, two Trainers in wing suits hover across the canyon, having what is identified as a Sky Battle between a Talonflame and a Skarmory. One trainer's Talonflame quickly gains the upper hand and defeats Skarmory. The group, Ash in particular, takes interest in the kind of battle in question. Just then, a man comes and asks if this is their first time in the canyon. The instructor introduces them to Sky Battles, which are battles hosted in midair and involve flying Pokemon. He brings them to the facility in which wing suits can be obtained, and Ash, Serena, and Clemont all obtain wing suits of their own, but Bonnie is unfortunately too small to receive a wing suit, much to her dismay. Serena tries to decide on staying with Bonnie to comfort her, but Bonnie thinks she is fine with Dedenne to give her company. Just then, Chespin pops out of its Poké Ball to comfort Bonnie. Ash proceeds to send out his Fletchling and Hawlucha. Ash, Serena, and Clemont begin to test their wing suits in an air room, while Bonnie jealously watches. All goes well for Ash and Serena, as well as Hawlucha and Fletchling, but Clemont has difficulty flying properly. While they are testing flight, the woman from before shows up and challenges Ash to a Sky Battle. The woman identifies herself as Moria, who is with her Talonflame. The instructor then elaborates on how Moria is one of the instructors at the canyon Sky Battle facility. Moria explains that her previous opponent was weak, and proceeds to challenge Ash. Fletchling is eager to face Talonflame, but Talonflame rejects Fletchling, seeing it as weak and unworthy, much to Fletchling's dismay. However, Talonflame decides to face Hawlucha, to which Moria concurs, on the condition that if Hawlucha wins, then they will battle Fletchling. Ash accepts the challenge. Meanwhile, Talonflame and Hawlucha battle, and Fletchling watches the battle carefully and observes Talonflame's movements while being comforted by Bonnie. However, since Hawlucha relied mostly on gliding rather than actual flight, it was at a disadvantage and ultimately lost the battle. Moria decides that she would not battle Fletchling. However, Bonnie asks that Fletchling battle, to which Ash concurs, but Moria is reluctant since Hawlucha had lost. Just then, Talonflame is captured in a net and cries for help. The thieves are ultimately revealed to be Team Rocket, and they proceed to attempt to escape with Talonflame as hostage. However, Ash, Serena, Moria, and the instructor give chase by flying with wing suits, to which Team Rocket thinks is unfair. As Ash, the instructor, and Moria proceed to try and break Talonflame free, Serena sends out Fennekin and instructs her to use Flamethrower which is a direct hit that sends the balloon crashing to the ground. As Ash and the others land, Team Rocket sends out Pumpkaboo and Inkay to battle. Ash sends Fletchling to help out. Inkay starts with Tackle, but Fletchling stops it with Razor Wind and breaks Talonflame free with Steel Wing, which earns Talonflame's respect. Fletchling also proceeds in dodging Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse and scores a direct hit with Peck. Inkay uses Psybeam, but Talonflame dodges and use Fire Blast to finish off Team Rocket's Pokemon and sends them blasting off. After this, Talonflame finally decides that it will battle Fletchling. Moria and Talonflame then battle Ash and Fletchling, and the two undergo a very tough battle. Meanwhile, Fletchling gets hit by a powerful Fire Blast and is consumed within the flame. Just when all seems lost, Fletchling evolves into Fletchinder and learns Flame Charge. Fletchinder then proceeds to use the move consecutively, and makes use of the speed boosts from the move to outpace Talonflame and score a final hit with Flame Charge, defeating Talonflame. Fletchinder then celebrates its victory with Ash and Bonnie. Back at the Sky Battle center, the group proceeds to say its goodbyes to Moria and the instructor. The instructor suggests that Bonnie return to the Sky Battle center when she becomes taller, to which she agrees to. He also promises to prepare a wing suit for her. The group leaves, with Bonnie running excitedly.

The episode begins with Ash and his friends returning from Pomace Mountain and heading out to Shalour City for Ash's upcoming gym battle with Korrina. They witness a Sentret, Pachirisu and Patrat working together to gather berries in a tree. Ash and the others, not wanting to disturb their work, continue on with their journey. After they leave, however, Patrat and the other two Pokémon encounter an Ursaring, who is trying to take their berries from them. Ash and his friends hear their cries and decide to check on what's going on. Ash arrives seeing the three Pokémon hiding and commands Pikachu to attack. However, before Pikachu could intervene, a wild masked Hawlucha flies into the scene with a dramatic entrance. Ash scans Hawlucha with his Pokédex. Just as Ash remarks on how it looks different from the one shown, Hawlucha removes its mask, revealing its true face. Hawlucha then dives in at Ursaring, slamming it to the ground. Ursaring becomes enraged, but is easily defeated in battle by Hawlucha's Karate Chop and High Jump Kick. Ash and his friends comment on how amazing Hawlucha is. Hawlucha then jumps to the top of a nearby tree, and shows off its victory pose. A nearby man explains to the group that Hawlucha does its pose before launching into its finishing move. And much the same, Hawlucha then begins to use its final move, Flying Press. However, Ursaring dodges it at the last minute, causing Hawlucha to crash onto the ground. Ursaring then begins to approach Hawlucha, still dazed on the ground, with a large boulder. Ash blocks Ursaring's path and commands Pikachu to break the rock with Iron Tail. The shattered boulder then hits Ursaring, causing Ursaring to collapse and run away. Ash helps Hawlucha get up, and Hawlucha leaves. Ash, excited about Hawlucha, asks the man, who reveals himself to be the caretaker of the forest, to tell him more about Hawlucha. At the man's home, the group share a hot drink, who now introduces himself as Keaton. Keaton tells the group that there had been many strong Fighting-type Pokémon in the forest when Hawlucha first arrived. Hawlucha had then defeated them one by one, earning its nickname "Forest Champion". Keaton then offers to show them the site where Hawlucha trains, and Ash and friends agree. Meanwhile, Ursaring has recruited Conkeldurr to fight against Hawlucha, and also convinces Machamp to agree to its cause. Keaton has brought Ash and the group to Hawlucha's training spot, and the group see Hawlucha practising its Flying Press near a waterfall. Ash introduces himself to Hawlucha and then asks Hawlucha to practice Flying Press on himself so that it can perfect the move. With a log in front, Ash helps Hawlucha perfect the move, ensuring that the move could not be dodged, without sacrificing Hawlucha's victory pose. However, as they train, the forest bullies – Ursaring and Conkeldurr appear, along with their leader, Machamp. Keaton reveals that Machamp had been the previous "Forest Champion", and had disappeared to train in the mountains after being defeated by Hawlucha. Machamp then begins a fierce one-on-one battle with Hawlucha. Machamp begins by attacking Hawlucha, and Hawlucha retaliates with multiple Karate Chops. However, Machamp remains still, withstanding all of Hawlucha's hits. Keaton reveals that Machamp must be sizing up Hawlucha's resolve. As Hawlucha continues to attack, to both Hawlucha's and Machamp's surprise, Ursaring and Conkeldurr come forward to attack Hawlucha. The two bullies slam Hawlucha to the ground and continue to attack. Machamp in response attacks the two bullies and stops the fight. Machamp, now carrying the two fainted Pokémon, walks off, agreeing with Hawlucha to battle at another time. After Machamp has left, Ash offers Hawlucha to join his team, and Hawlucha agrees. Ash then begins a battle against Hawlucha with Froakie. Froakie starts off with Water Pulse and Double Team, allowing it to avoid Hawlucha's High Jump Kick. After attacking with Bubble, Ash commands Froakie to jump up and grab Hawlucha. However, Froakie misses, and lands into the water instead. Ash then commands Froakie to use Double Team as it jumps out of the water, followed up with Cut. Hawlucha counters with High Jump Kick, and finishes off with its newly practiced Flying Press. Froakie counters with Cut just as Hawlucha slams into Froakie, causing both to faint. As Hawlucha is about to join Ash's team, Machamp arrives. Keaton tells Hawlucha that the forest will be fine even when it leaves. Hawlucha then agrees to join Ash's team and enters into Ash's Poké Ball.

Following Gurkinn’s instructions, Ash, his friends and Korrina arrive at a house on Pomace Mountain. The door is opened by Mawile, and soon Mabel arrives and introduces herself to the group. She asks Korrina and Lucario to show her their strength in a battle. The battle starts with Korrina Mega evolving Lucario, and Mabel Mega Evolving her Mawile. Korrina commands Lucario to use Power-Up Punch, but Mawile dodges. Lucario uses Bone Rush without Korrina's order, but Mawile dodges all its attacks. Mawile uses Iron Head on Lucario. Lucario then loses its control due to its aura. Despire Korrina's urging, Lucario uses Power-Up Punch without any order. Mawile counters with Fairy Wind and Lucario faints. Team Rocket are spying on the group and want to get their hands on Pikachu, Mega Mawile and Mega Lucario. They decide to wait and catch them off-guard. Despite Korrina's urge to train, Mabel asks the group to partner with their Pokémon and make flower arrangements. Clemont reveals his Flower Arranger One, which arranges flowers in the most artistic way possible. However, it becomes overloaded and blows up. After some time, Mabel comes in and inspects the arrangements. She states that these arrangements reflect their personality. Mabel exclaims that Ash's and Pikachu's arrangement show their hearts are one. However, she states that Korrina and Lucario have made two separate arrangements, which shows that they have similar personalities and a deep understanding of each other. The next day, Ash and his friends go out in search for flowers. However, Mabel tells Korrina and Lucario to go up and see the mountain views and that they might see something wonderful. Day after day, the group continue to make flower arrangements until Mabel can see that their hearts are one. One day, as Korrina and Lucario go out to gather flowers, Korrina spots some beautiful white flowers on top of a cliff. Lucario climbs the cliff face but then falters, almost falling. Realising that some areas of the cliff were less sturdy than others, Korrina guides Lucario to climb in certain areas to reach the flower. That night, Korrina wonders why Mabel has not started any training and why her grandfather recommended them come to Mabel. Mabel comes to Korrina and tells them that Lucario should be able to controls its aura soon. She tells them the reason why Lucario uses moves on its own is because of how close and similar Korrina and Lucario are. However, while they may have one heart, they have two viewpoints, and asks them to bring their one heart and two viewpoints together. At that moment, glass cracks from somewhere and Pikachu screams. As everyone comes out to search for what had happened, Team Rocket fly into view in their balloon with Mawile and Pikachu trapped. After their motto, James shoots a missile to trap Lucario, but Lucario dodges. Jessie sends out Pumpkaboo. Korrina Mega evolves Lucario and orders it to use Power-Up Punch. James sends out Inkay and commands it to use Psybeam while Jessie orders Pumpkaboo to use Shadow Ball. These moves cause Mega Lucario to lose control again. However, as Lucario is about to launch an attack, Korrina blocks it, and Lucario bites onto Korrina's arm. Korrina asks Lucario to remember their one heart and two viewpoints. The flowers on Korrina’s arm rings, making Lucario remember Korrina and what they have done so far. After a while, Lucario comes back to its senses. As Pumpkaboo uses Dark Pulse, Lucario blocks the attack. As Inkay uses Psybeam and Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball, Lucario follows Korrina's orders and counters with Bone Rush. The impact of the attack frees Mawile and Pikachu. Mabel Mega evolves Mawile and commands it to use Fairy Wind. Ash commands Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. Lucario then uses Aura Sphere, a move it learnt as a result of being able to control its aura. This sends Team Rocket blasting off. The next day, the group say goodbye to Mabel and leave Pomace Mountain. Ash decides to leave Korrina and train more before he challenges the Shalour Gym.

On the road to Pomace Mountain, Ash and Korrina are having a battle. Ash's Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, which Lucario dodges. Lucario then retaliates with Bone Rush, which Pikachu dodges. Pikachu then attacks with Iron Tail, which Lucario counters with Power-Up Punch. Korrina exclaims at Lucario's choice of moves, only to quickly realise that she had not commanded Lucario to attack. The battle soon ends with Bonnie announcing that lunch is ready. During lunch, Serena passes around some Poké Puffs for Lucario as well as for Dedenne and Pikachu. Ash then asks Korrina about what training Korrina and Lucario had done since their childhood. Korrina replies that she had battled her grandfather and his Lucario on several occasions, and also reflects on having battled a Trainer with a Mega Ampharos. Meanwhile, Team Rocket are eavesdropping on the group, listening in about Mega Ampharos. The trio then plot to steal Korrina's Lucario, her Lucarionite and Key Stone. Ash and his friends have now arrived at a cave which Serena states is a shortcut to Pomace Mountain. But they soon arrive at a fork in the road, and Korrina decides to lead, choosing a path with her instinct. Team Rocket, following close behind, decide to scare the group by disturbing the Noibat in the cave. James commands Inkay to attack a Noibat, causing the whole group of Noibat to become scared and fly off towards Ash and the group. The group then run away from the Noibat colony, only to realise that their group has become split, with Ash, Bonnie, Serena and Lucario in one group, and Clemont, Pikachu, and Korrina at another end of the cave. Both groups decide to camp the night separately before the sun sets. During the night, Korrina, unable to sleep, again reflects on her childhood with Lucario. She contemplates with Clemont, about her inability to control Mega Evolution, and the advice her grandfather had provided. The next morning, the two groups attempt to find each other. However, at Clemont's group, Team Rocket intervenes, trying to capture Pikachu in a net which Pikachu narrowly avoids. Clemont takes out Bunnelby, only to face a powered-up Inkay, Pumpkaboo, Meowth and Wobbuffet, armored with their "Mecha Evolution Power-Packed Amplify-O-Rama Mark 2". Bunnelby faints after being hit by Inkay's Psybeam and Tackle, and Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse. Clemont then takes out Chespin, only for Chespin to also get badly hurt by Team Rocket's powered up Pokémon. Pikachu joins the fight with Thunderbolt, only to be countered by Wobbuffet. Korrina then commands Pikachu to use Quick Attack and Iron Tail, which are dodged by Inkay and Pumpkaboo respectively. Korrina then commands "now Pikachu" without stating a move. Pikachu, confused, gets hit by Pumpkabo's Shadow Ball. Meanwhile, Fletchling has found Clemont's group, and leads Ash, Serena, Bonnie and Lucario to the others. Back with Korrina, Meowth comes in to attack Korrina to steal her Key Stone. However, at the last minute, Lucario comes in to block Meowth's attack. The battle then continues between the group and Team Rocket. But as Ash and his group are losing, Lucario prompts Korrina to allow it to Mega Evolve. Despite some misgivings, Korrina decides to Mega Evolve Lucario. After Mega Evolution, Lucario attacks with Bone Rush, successfully hitting Pumpkaboo. However, Lucario subsequently loses control and begins to start attacking Ash and the group. Korrina tells Lucario to stop, but Lucario charges forth towards Korrina, stopping just before attacking Korrina because of her voice. Korrina continues to shout Lucario's name, and Lucario begins to regain control of itself. Lucario then attacks Team Rocket with Bone Rush, causing them blast off. However, Lucario then loses control momentarily before fainting from exhaustion. At this, Clemont comments that they still have some way to go, though Ash believes that they will be able to figure it out.

After getting the Lucarionite, Korrina is excited to have finally Mega Evolved her Lucario. Wondering how powerful Lucario now is, Clemont presents a machine to measure the Pokémon's power. Ash challenges Korrina to a battle to which she agrees, eager to test out Lucario's new strength. Korrina begins the match with Lucario's Bone Rush, which flies out of its hand after blocking Pikachu's Iron Tail. The force of the bone is so powerful that it causes an explosion as it hits the nearby mountain. Ash moves to disorient Lucario with Quick Attack, but Pikachu is stopped by Lucario's successive Power-Up Punches. Pikachu manages to avoid it as Lucario's eyes start to glow red as it increases in aggressiveness, and it blocks Pikachu's escape paths. Without Korrina's orders, Lucario punches Pikachu away. Ash orders Pikachu to use Electro Ball, but Lucario evades and punches down Pikachu and howls. Crazed, it swings Pikachu around by its tail as the trainers look on in horror. Lucario kicks Pikachu again as he struggles to get on his feet, and Korrina yells for it to stop. Ash runs to his fallen Pikachu and shields him, but Lucario still advances. Korrina tells it not to attack, but Lucario ignores her command and goes to Power-Up Punch Ash and Pikachu. Thinking quickly, Gurkinn releases his Lucario to block Korrina's. Korrina's Lucario collapses and returns to its non-Mega Evolved form. The group goes to the Pokémon Center, where Ash gets back his healed Pikachu. However, Lucario remains in care, exhausted. Gurkinn tells Korrina that there are times where at first a Pokémon may get manipulated by their own powers, and Korrina apologizes to Ash and Pikachu for what happened during the battle. Korrina feels bad, but Ash reassures her that things will be fine. Gurkinn, however, is not convinced. McGinty returns with the Lucarionite fitted to an arm band, as well as a replacement picture of the trainers. The group sits down to talk, with Ash and his friends noting the difference between Korrina's Mega Evolution and Diantha's. The battle was the first time Lucario did not listen to Korrina and Gurkinn explains that Lucario couldn't control its own Aura. Gurkinn says Korrina needs to learn how to control Mega Evolution, being a Gym Leader. Just then, Lucario returns, healed and back to its old self. Korrina gives it the arm band holding the Lucarionite. Gurkinn invites Korrina outside for a Pokémon battle. Korrina is eager to prove her worth, but Gurkinn remains convinced she still does not understand Mega Evoution. Before beginning to battle, both trainers Mega Evolve their Lucarios. Korrina begins with Power-Up Punch, which Gurkinn's Lucario blocks with its Aura. Gurkinn follows up with Bone Rush, and Korrina mimics the attack, the two Lucario engaging in close combat. Though Korrina gains an early lead, her Lucario is unable to deflect Gurkinn's Lucario's Aura Sphere. When Korrina's Lucario gets back to its feet, it once again has its dangerous look. Korrina attempts to get Lucario to power up using Swords Dance, but Lucario neglects to obey instead and heads for a Power-Up Punch, which Gurkinn's Lucario dodges with its superior Aura. Lucario continues to disobey Korrina's orders and is knocked out by another Aura Sphere. The battle over, Korrina's Lucario returns to normal. Korrina is frustrated over not being able to use Mega Evolution properly. Gurkinn tells her that the problem is due to Lucario's overconfidence and Korrina's inability to understand her Pokémon. Gurkinn tells her she has a ways to go before really becoming the Gym Leader of Shalour City. Gurkinn orders her to train anew. He tells her to go to Pomace Mountain, where a trainer that can Mega Evolve resides. Ash and his friends offer to accompany Korrina to the mountain, reassuring her that she'll soon learn to master Mega Evolution.

The gang arrives excited to Geosenge Town, where the Lucarionite is located. However, Korrina does not know the actual location of the stone, only assuming she would because her grandfather told her she would know once she arrived at the town. After witnessing evolutionary stones in action, the group decides to split up to look for the Lucarionite in the surrounding shops, but to no avail. Due to their inability to attain information, Clemont deduces that the stone must be both valuable and rare. Korrina remembers her grandfather telling her that when the time is right, she will know what is needed for Mega Evolution. She resolves not to be discouraged. Just then, a photographer appears, welcoming the travelers. He introduces himself as a local named McGinty and offers to take a souvenir photo of the trainers, to which they accept. While the photo is being taken, Serena can be seen moving closer to Ash. He tells the group that evolutionary stones can be found in the caves within the surrounding mountains. Though McGinty does not know what a Lucarionite is, he does know of a remote cave in which a special stone can be found. He warns them, however, that if someone unqualified may enter the cave, something terrifying will happen. However, Korrina is unfazed, if not more determined. From behind a rock, Team Rocket listens. They decide to reach the cave first and steal the Mega Stone, as well as capture Pikachu. The group receives their souvenir pictures and heads off in search of the Lucarionite. As he watches them go, McGinty wonders if that was what Gurkinn wanted. Up on the mountain, Team Rocket works on disguising the entrance to the cave, hoping to mislead the trainers while entering the cave themselves. It is initially effective, as the travelers, led by Korrina, pass it by. Inside the cave, Team Rocket reach a door, while the trainers outside remain lost. Suddenly, Lucario senses the direction of the Lucarionite and blasts open the disguised road's entrance. A further ways down, it senses the mouth of the secret cave. Clemont produces a machine to make light in the dark passage, and the group prepares to set off. However, the group is frightened by loud noises from the depths of the cave, and Team Rocket flies out, blasting off again. Despite the danger, Korrina is determined to find the stone, and the trainers advance into the cave. The party come to an open door, revealing a large chamber with a single path: leading to the Lucarionite. However, as Korrina and Lucario run down the path, they are blocked by a Blaziken, who begins to battle with Lucario. Korrina and Lucario realize that in order to get the stone, the pair must defeat Blaziken. Korrina begins with Lucario's Power-Up Punch. Blaziken dodges and returns with a Blaze Kick, which hits its mark. Lucario, however, lands on its feet and dodges Blaziken's next series of successive Blaze Kicks. Korrina commands Lucario to use Metal Sound, which allows it to run up for a Power-Up Punch. Just as it seems the move is working, Blaziken sends Lucario to the ground with a Flamethrower. As Korrina runs for the downed Lucario, her souvenir photo falls from her pocket and burns in Blaziken's flames. She falls to the ground. Blaziken grabs Lucario by the head and throws it against the wall, where it falls to the water below. Serena decides she can't watch any longer, but Ash stops her from interfering, telling her that it is Korrina's fight. Reminded of her will by Ash's words, Korrina gets Lucario to stand up. She commands it to use Power-Up Punch, and Lucario attacks Blaziken. Blaziken dodges Lucario's successive punches, but Lucario finally pins its opponent down with a Bone Rush. Just when Lucario is about to finish Blaziken off with another Power-Up Punch, a voice commands them to stop. From the shadows emerges Gurkinn, Korrina's grandfather and the Mega Evolution Guru, who tells Korrina she won. The Blaziken was his. He tells Korrina that he knew she would end up in the cave, and wanted to provide her final trial himself. Korrina finally takes the Lucarionite in her own hands. Back from the mountains, the group and Gurkinn run into McGinty, who promises to print another picture for Korrina. The group is surprised to find out that McGinty knows Gurkinn, who admits that Gurkinn enlisted him to help with the final trial. The group congratulates Korrina for achieving her goal. Korrina finally uses Mega Evolution with Lucario for the first time.

Ash and his friends are walking along a forest road when a girl on roller skates appears in front of them. The trainer, who introduces herself as Korrina and her partner, Lucario, challenge Ash to a battle to claim their ninety-ninth successive victory. At a different location, Ash and Korrina prepare to battle. Ash and Pikachu begin with a Quick Attack, which Lucario counters. Pikachu's next series of Iron Tails are also blocked and evaded. Lucario uses Swords Dance to raise its attack power, before delivering a Bone Rush, knocking Pikachu back. Korrina commands Lucario to repeatedly use the effective Bone Rush on Pikachu, sending the weakened Pokémon flying. Lucario then finishes the job with a Power-Up Punch. After the battle, Korrina offers Ash a Sitrus Berry for Pikachu and reveals that she is the Gym Leader of the Shalour City Gym. The group decides to have lunch together. While they are eating, Bonnie notices a stone on Korrina's glove similar to Diantha's, which Korrina confirms is indeed a Key Stone. However, Korrina cannot Mega Evolve her Lucario because it does not possess a Mega Stone. She informs the group that since her ancestors were the first to Mega Evolve a Lucario, it is custom for a Shalour City Gym Leader to have a Pokémon able to Mega Evolve as their partner. Korrina remembers her grandfather giving her the Key Stone and telling her that apart from the two stones, the bond between Trainer and Pokémon is also essential to Mega Evolution. In order find the Mega Stone, Korrina is headed to Geosenge Town, while on the way she hopes to battle her way to one hundred successive victories, Ash being her ninety-ninth opponent. Korrina shows the group a scrapbook where she keeps the prints of all the Pokémon she has battled, and subsequently makes sure Pikachu has his prints commemorated, albeit with ketchup. From the bushes, Team Rocket watches and plot to steal Lucario and the Key Stone, as well as Pikachu; whom they plan to both Mega Evolve using the Mega Stone from Geosenge Town. As Korrina ponders her one hundredth battle, a truck pulls up. The side opens revealing Jessie, James, and Meowth dressed as fortune tellers, claiming to be Mega Evolution appraisers, who claim to be able to predict the moves and strength a mega-evolved Pokémon will have. Korrina passes on their offer, but the "appraisers" insist, and usher Lucario onto the stage, as well as borrowing Korrina's Key Stone glove and Pikachu, but pass on Dedenne. Korrina asks the appraisers whether they really know what's in Geosenge Town, as the Mega Stone needed to evolve differs depending on the Pokémon; the Mega Stone in question being able to only Mega-Evolve Lucario. As the kids begin to question, Team Rocket abandons their act and cage Lucario and Pikachu, releasing a smoke bomb and departing in their balloon. Clemont prepares to unveil an invention for the situation, but all of the group has already started running. In their balloon, Team Rocket argues over whether a Mega Stone to evolve Pikachu actually exists while Pikachu and Lucario struggle to break the cage's walls. Meanwhile, when Ash, Korrina, and the group wonder if they're going in the right direction, Korrina closes her eyes and senses that Lucario is indeed nearby. She recalls memories of growing up with Lucario, and Clemont remembers Diantha also being able to sense where her partner, Gardevoir was. Ash, having a similar relationship with Pikachu, agrees. Back in the air, Pikachu and Lucario struggle to escape their confinement. A thought occurs to Lucario to power up using Swords Dance, and together with Pikachu's Electro Ball uses Power-Up Punch to puncture the hot air balloon. As they cage breaks open on the cliffs below, Lucario grabs the Key Stone. Korrina, sensing it's location, continues to lead the other trainers. Now free, Lucario and Pikachu are attacked by a Shadow Ball from an advancing Team Rocket, trying to prevent their escape. Pikachu attempts to use Electro Ball, while James and Jessie counter with Inkay and Pumpkaboo's Psybeam and Dark Pulse, which hit their respective targets. Just when it looks like Team Rocket is close to victory, Ash and the gang run into the scene, led by Korrina. They decide to settle it with a tag battle. Jessie and James begin with their Pokémon using Shadow Ball and Psybeam, while Korrina's Lucario deflects both attacks easily with Bone Rush. Not giving up, James commands Inkay to use Tackle on Lucario, but Lucario sends it flying with Power-Up Punch and Bone Rush. Angrily, Jessie attempts to use Shadow Ball, but Ash commands Pikachu to use a Thunderbolt. Team Rocket is sent blasting off again, securing Korrina and Lucario's one hundredth victory; their only regret not being able to get a print for their collection. Later, when Korrina and Lucario prepare to depart in pursuit of the Mega Stone, Ash asks if he and his friends can go along, wanting to witness Mega Evolution for themselves. Korrina and Lucario agree, and the group runs off towards Geosenge Town, much to Clemont's dismay.

Inkay dodges, while Clemont pulls out a machine. When Inkay uses Psybeam next, Clemont absorbs the move with his machine. James tells it to use Tackle instead, but Inkay is sent back by the machine. Ash tells Froakie to use Bubble, which sends Inkay crashing into a tree. Jessie commands Pumpkaboo to use Shadow Ball and then Dark Pulse, both of which are absorbed by Clemont's machine. Ash and Froakie finish with another Water Pulse, sending Pumpkaboo crashing into James and dropping Pikachu's cage and releasing him. With Pikachu back, Ash commands him to use Thunderbolt to send Team Rocket blasting off. Just as the friends thank Clemont for his help, his prototype explodes. Team Rocket lands in the forest, thinking that Clemont's device could potentially be useful. Jessie tells the others of a secret plan. In a park, a little boy named Myron plays with his Pancham when a stranger introduces himself as Ash from Pallet Town. "Ash" calls over "Bonnie" and "Serena", who are actually Jessie and Meowth in disguise pretending to be the children, while James plays Ash. Inkay masquerades as Pikachu, causing Myron to question his ability to float in mid-air. James asks for a battle, to which Myron declines, but James goes ahead and tells "Pikachu" to use Psybeam on Pancham. Inkay uses Tackle, which sends Pancham into the ground. Team Rocket runs away, leaving Myron to call Officer Jenny. Team Rocket runs around town, helping themselves to food without paying. Upon reaching the city, the real Ash and his friends are confronted by Myron, who tells them he has reported them to Officer Jenny. Upon noticing that Ash's Pikachu is not floating like the fake Pikachu, he apologizes, saying he mistook them for someone else. At a food cart where Team Rocket stole food, the same thing happens, the owner initially demanding money before noticing that Ash and his friends do indeed look different than the thieves, after the friends tell him they had just arrived in the city. While receiving their healed Pokémon at the Pokémon Center, an announcement calls for Bonnie, Ash, and Serena to come to the front of the Pokémon Center. When they do, Officer Jenny and angry restaurant owners are waiting for them, and Ash once again tells them that they have just arrived in the city, which Officer Jenny and the owners believe. Ash, Serena, and Bonnie get called down for questioning, leaving Clemont alone. Noticing this from around a corner, Team Rocket prepares to enter the second phase of their plan. At the police station, Bonnie, Ash, and Serena are shocked to find out what they have been accused of, and call Clemont back in the Pokémon Center to tell him of the situation. Jessie and James, disguised as scientists, enter and ask Clemont for help on a mecha, to which he accepts, leaving a note for his friends. At their laboratory, Clemont is impressed by both their tools and their newest Heliolisk mecha. Jessie and James tell Clemont that they would like him to make a defense system against Electric Pokémon, and he agrees, beginning right away. While he works, Team Rocket receives a call from Giovanni, who is satisfied with their progress in the Kalos region. Clemont has finished the mecha when he notices another faulty device, meant to transport Pokémon, and fixes it for Team Rocket. Clemont comes back to the Pokémon Center, where his friends tell him that fakes disguised as themselves have been running around causing mayhem, and vow to catch the troublemakers. In a field, Team Rocket finishes burying something, excited for the next day's events. The next day, Team Rocket again eats and runs without paying, knowing that soon Ash and his friends will come to find them. At the shop-keeper's directions, the children find and confront their lookalikes in the field, who reveal themselves to be Team Rocket. Team Rocket releases the Heliolisk mecha that Clemont helped build, determined to get Pikachu. James commands the mecha to get Pikachu, who dodges its claws, but whose Thunderbolt and Electro Ball have no effect. Pikachu is hit by the mecha's power, and is punted by its claws into Jessie's waiting capsule. Jessie puts the capsule into Clemont's Pokémon Transportation machine, and Pikachu is transported underground. Meanwhile, the mecha malfunctions, and, being Clemont's invention, explodes, sending a successful Team Rocket blasting off. Ash desperately tries to go after Pikachu, but Clemont says he will take care of it. He uses Serena's guidebook to determine radius in which the other end of the Tranportation machine is located. He releases Bunnelby, and commands him to dig underground to find where the transportation device leads. Bunnelby leads them to Team Rocket, who send out Inkay and Pumpkaboo to get rid of the friends. Clemont takes out a new move absorption machine. The machine absorbs Inkay's Psybeam and Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball. Clemont commands Bunnelby to use Double Slap on Inkay and Mud Shot on Pumpkaboo, which also hits Jessie, causing Pikachu to fly out of her hands. Reunited with Ash, Pikachu uses Electro Ball to send Team Rocket blasting off again. Ash thanks Clemont for saving them. Clemont says it was his fault for building the machine in the first place, but the others tell him he shouldn't blame himself because Team Rocket ruined everything. As if on cue, the move absorption machine crackles with electricity and, as always, explodes. With Pikachu back safe and sound, Ash and his friends continue their journey.

This episode begins with Ash and his friends, who have found a poster advertising a battle featuring the Pokémon Champion of the Kalos region, Diantha. The friends tell Ash, who has never heard of Diantha before, that Diantha is not only the strongest Pokémon trainer in Kalos, but is also a famous actress. Ash decides to request a battle with Diantha, and the friends run off to meet her. Behind the scenes at the stadium, Diantha's manager tells a large crowd that Diantha is not accepting meetings or interviews. Just as Ash and his friends are about to leave, Professor Sycamore appears and motions to them to follow him into a room. The professor has come to examine the Mega Evolution that Diantha's Gardevoir possesses. The friends are excited to also hear that Diantha is in the room next door. Ash head towards the door, wanting to request a battle immediately, but before he can open it Diantha emerges, much to the awe of Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie. Professor Sycamore asks Diantha if she has thought about his request to leave her Key Stone temporarily in his possession, to which she respectfully declines, saying that the Key Stone is the very bond between her and Gardevoir. Professor Sycamore persists, however, and Diantha begins to offer a compromise for the next time she visits Lumiose City. Diantha's manager Kathi Lee, however, appears and abruptly tells Sycamore that Diantha's schedule is full. Diantha tells the group to feel free to watch the battle. At the battlefield, the two opponents take to the field to a cheering crowd, Diantha and a previous year's champion from Brackish Town, Magnus. In the stands, Ash asks Professor Sycamore about the Key Stone. Professor Sycamore tells him the Key Stone is the stone Trainers hold, and the Mega Stone is the stone that Pokémon hold, both crucial to Mega Evolution. Diantha releases Gardevoir, who wears a Mega Stone. Professor Sycamore tells the travelers that a close bond between the Trainer and Pokemon is also crucial to Mega Evolution. Above, Team Rocket watches and decides to get Gardevoir for themselves, hoping to please Giovanni. On the field, Magnus releases Absol, and the battle begins. Magnus and Absol begin with Bite, but Gardevoir is too quick. Absol then uses Quick Attack, but again Gardevoir evades the attack, able to understand Diantha's commands merely through eye contact. Magnus's Absol uses Psycho Cut, but Gardevoir repels it with Shadow Ball, which rebounds to hit Absol. Absol uses Perish Song, but Gardevoir uses Moonblast to knock Absol out, winning the match. Inside the stadium, a crowd again forms, hoping to see Diantha. An officer tells the crowd that Diantha has already left for a movie shooting. Serena suggests that the group go try Brackish Town's famous chocolate cake, Professor Sycamore opting to join them after he takes care of his data. However, when the travelers reach the restaurant, they are greeted by a long line. However, Bonnie and Serena are determined to get through the line, and manage to procure one slice. Faced with the predicament of sharing one slice with four people, Clemont pulls out a machine that can cut the piece into exactly equal pieces. Before he can cut into the dessert, the group notices a disappointed woman who was unable to procure a slice, and offer to share with her. The lady reveals she is indeed Diantha, and the group share the dessert, after which Bonnie asks for Diantha to marry her brother. Ash determinedly asks Diantha to have a battle with him, and after his persistence, she accepts. Professor Sycamore appears, wanting to also watch the battle. In a field, Ash begins to battle Diantha's Gardevoir with Pikachu. Ash begins with Pikachu's Iron Tail, followed up by Quick Attack, which Diantha's Gardevoir nimbly avoids. Ash next commands Pikachu to use Electro Ball and Thunderbolt, which Gardevoir also dodges. Gardevoir uses Shadow Ball, which sends Pikachu flying and Ash running to catch him. Seeing Ash's devotion to his Pokémon, Diantha recognizes his passion. Just then, Team Rocket releases a net, which captures Gardevoir in a transparent box. Diantha orders Gardevoir to use Shadow Ball on the box, but to no avail. Jessie throws a smoke bomb and Team Rocket's balloon soars off. Diantha, who knows where Gardevoir has gone, leads the way. Diantha recalls an experience in which she was lost in the fog while shooting in the Lapidarian Highlands, and her Key Stone led her to Gardevoir. Ash says he think their hearts were calling out to each other. The group reaches Gardevoir, and Diantha tells the others to stay back while she confronts Team Rocket. Diantha mega-evolves Gardevoir into Mega Gardevoir, and this time, the force of Mega Gardevoir's Shadow Ball blasts the box. Diantha tells Mega Gardevoir to use Moon Blast, which sends Team Rocket blasting off again. The group congratulates Diantha as Mega Gardevoir returns back to normal. A helicopter with Kathi Lee arrives to pick up Diantha. Diantha thanks Ash and all the children, but has to go to her next shooting. Just before she leaves, Ash tells Diantha that he is challenging the Kalos League, and asks her to battle him when the time comes. Diantha tells him she'll look forward to it, and the friends and Professor Sycamore wave as the helicopter rides off into the sunset, having all learned more about the secrets of Mega Evolution.

As Ash and his friends prepare to set off again to the Shalour Gym, Bonnie encounters difficulties while fixing her hair. When Serena puts a flower clip in Bonnie's hair, a lone Flabébé attaches herself to it, looking downhearted. Bonnie feeds the Flabébé nectar, and then asks Clemont if she can keep the Pokémon. When Clemont tries to capture her, however, the Flabébé refuses, and Ash points out she must already have a trainer, angering Bonnie. The friends walk into the nearest town, Calanthe Town, to find her owner, with Bonnie still wanting to keep Flabébé for herself, talking to her in her hair by way of a mirror. Suddenly, an old man, spotting the Flabébé, runs up to the group, overjoyed. He introduces himself as Grey and thanks the group for taking care of his Pokémon. When he asks Flabébé to go home with him, however, she will not let go of Bonnie's hair. When asked about Flabébé's lack of a flower, the man explains his story. Flabébé lives together with Grey and his wife Florence. One day while gardening, Florence fell ill and collapsed. Flabébé, then with a flower, flew to find Grey. Florence was admitted to a hospital, where the old woman would stay. When Grey woke up the next morning, Flabébé was gone. On a hunch, he found Flabébé at the hospital, watching Florence. A strong wind separated Flabébé and her flower, and carried Flabébé away, her flower left ruined. Now Grey must take Flabébé back quickly, as Florence is not doing well, due to an emotional matter. As flowerless Flabébé will lose their energy, they must find Flabébé a same flower as her original before they can take her to the hospital. However, this fairy flower, which resembles Bonnie's hairpiece, is not easy to find. The traveling companions tell Grey to go visit Florence while they go search for the flower. The group first goes to a Pokémon Center to heal Flabébé, where Nurse Joy tells them the flowers may be found in the high plains near the town, but they are not in season. Team Rocket watches from behind newspapers and hatches a plan. As Bonnie and the group are about to head out, a disguised Team Rocket stops them, offering a special tour to find the fairy flowers. The "tour guides" guide the group quickly to the high plains, where the travelers begin to look for a flower. Flabébé spots one high on the side of a cliff, which Bonnie must climb because Flabébé must attach herself naturally to the flower. Meowth encapsules Pikachu with a claw as Bonnie and Flabébé reach the flower. Ash, Clemont, and Serena take out Froakie, Chespin, and Fennekin, while Jessie and James retaliate with Pumpkaboo and Inkay. Ash commands Froakie to use Water Pulse, but the move is reflected by Jessie's Wobbuffet's Mirror Coat. Chespin uses Pin Missile, but it is reflected again, hurting Ash, Clemont, and Serena's Pokémon. James and Jessie order Inkay and Pumpkaboo to use Psybeam and Shadow Ball on the opposing Pokémon, who are unable to retaliate. Just then, Flabébé, now on the new flower, flies over the battlefield, using Aromatherapy to subdue Team Rocket and their Pokémon. Under the calming effects of Flabébé's attack, Team Rocket releases Pikachu on their own accord. With Team Rocket out of the way, Flabébé and the travelers return to town to find Grey. The friends arrive at the hospital, and Florence and Flabébé are reunited, giving the old woman hope. Grey and Florence thank Bonnie, and Bonnie and Flabébé share a heartfelt goodbye. Coming out of the hospital, Bonnie is upset about having to leave Flabébé, but Dedenne cheers her up to continue on their journey.

This episode begins with Serena sharing her freshly made Poké Puffs with some of the group's Pokémon. Even though they are not intended for him, Ash tries one himself, and loves it. As Ash hands Dedenne a Poké Puff, it is floated out of his hand and into the waiting mouth of a Slurpuff. A girl comes up behind it and promptly tells Serena that Slurpuff thinks her Poké Puffs are so decent, insulting her. She introduces herself as Miette, and gives the group's Pokémon her own "perfect" Poké Puffs as an apology for her Slurpuff stealing theirs, and while the Pokémon are impressed, Ash is not. As Miette continues to brag and insult Serena, a heated bicker ensues, only to be broken by Clemont. Away from the group, Bonnie finds a poster for a Poké Puff competition and suggests that Serena and Miette should compete, at which they accept. As the preliminary rounds begin, Serena, Miette, Team Rocket, and others compete in baking original Poké Puffs on an outdoor stage in front of a live audience. As the second half of the round comes to pass, the competitors are doing well, except for Team Rocket, who have only succeeded in burning their creations. When the round has finished, the world famous Poké Puff master Gena takes the stage to announce the bakers who will advance to the final round of the competition. Bonnie makes her way up onto stage to propose that Gena marry her brother, but is, as always, dragged away by an embarrassed Clemont. Miette asks Ash if he has a future bride in mind, watching for Serena's reaction after Ash says he does not. The finalists are announced; the Berrybaker kids, Miette, and Serena are the three who will go on to the final round. After the first round, Team Rocket's plan to win the contest and then steal all the Pokémon at venue has failed. Jessie resolves to make it so that only she can make Poké Puffs. At a marketplace, Serena and the group attempt to find Berries to use to make Poké Puffs for the final round, but all vendors are sold out. Miette runs up to the group, and tells them that all the Berries in the town have vanished. As Serena and Miette accuse each other, Bonnie suggests that they go look for Berries in the forest. However, when the friends go to the forest, there are no Berries to be found, and Clemont confirms the occurrences to be sabotage. After Serena leaves the group to look further, Miette asks her Slurpuff to lead them, and it points the way farther into the forest. Just then, Serena screams in the distance for help, and the group runs to help. Serena has been surrounded by angry Swirlix, who attack her. She commands Fennekin to use Scratch, but she is hit by a Swirlix's Sticky White Thread and falls back. The friends arrive on the scene and Ash commands Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on the Swirlix, and the attacking Pokémon leave Serena, but still surround the group. Serena tells Fennekin to use Flamethrower, and the Swirlix float away. Miette's Slurpuff, who can understand the Swirlix, indicates that the Swirlix had a reason to get angry and beckons the group to follow it. After the group breaches a cliff, the are met with the sight of many Berries. Just then, the horde of Swirlix flees out of the forest as giant claws pursue it. The trees collapse to reveal Team Rocket in a mecha, who have taken all the Berries. Meowth activates giant vacuum tubes, which suck in Pikachu, Swirlix, and the Berries. Clemont realizes the machine will lose its power if the air flow is stopped, and Ash grabs onto the tube, blocking the inlet. The vacuum power stops, and the friends target the overheated engine. Fennekin uses Flamethrower, and in response Meowth reverses the air flow, sending Ash and the trapped Pokemon out and away from the machine. The Swirlix help to attack, and Ash, Miette, and Serena combine their Pokémon's Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, and Flamethrower to send Team Rocket blasting off again. Back at the Poké Puff competition and after the final round, Gena announces the winner of the competition: the Berrybaker kids. After the competition, Serena and Miette resolve to keep working to be better bakers and shake hands. Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie, standing a ways away, call for Serena to come. Before she leaves, Miette warns Serena to tell Ash how she feels about him, otherwise she'll do so herself. Serena blushes, then smiles, and runs back to her friends, who continue on their way.

Ash arrives enthusiastically in Cyllage City, eager to battle. Upon running in the wrong direction, Serena points out that the Cyllage Gym is actually on top a mountain overlooking the city. Ash and his friends arrive inside the gym and are met with a rocky hill covered in rock walls. Ash sees Grant climbing and tells him he has come to challenge him to a match. Grant challenges Ash to climb up the rock walls to meet him at the battlefield. Ash determinedly climbs the wall, while his friends take the elevator. Grant tells Ash that he climbs walls to learn concentration and composure. As they prepare to battle, the battle judge says that Grant will use two Pokémon and that the challenger can use as many as he has on hand, with the gym leader also not able to substitute his Pokémon. Grant takes out Onix, while Ash uses Froakie. On the sidelines, Clemont and Bonnie notice Serena looks nervous and tense, weirdly enough, because Ash is the one battling. Serena denies looking that way, but tells them the reason she is nervous is because she hopes all of Ash's recent training with his Pokémon pays off. The battle begins, with Froakie beginning with Water Pulse and is met with Onix's Flash Cannon. As Froakie charges, Onix uses Rock Polish to increase its own speed, but is soon surrounded by Froakie's Double Team. When Onix uses Rock Tomb, its most powerful attack, Froakie jumps from rock from rock, a move it and Ash had practiced while training to beat Rock Tomb. Up in the air, Froakie fires a Water Pulse at Onix's head. Onix then uses Iron Tail, but Froakie dodges and uses the opportunity to climb up Onix's tail to its head. As Onix tries to shake it off, Froakie hangs and Onix is finally downed by Froakie's Water Pulse. Grant's second Pokémon, a Tyrunt takes to the field, and is met immediately by Froakie's Double Team. Tyrunt uses Rock Tomb, but Ash uses his special move and jumps up the rocks. Froakie uses Bubble, but Tyrunt jumps and uses Draco Meteor, knocking Froakie out. Ash, not discouraged, takes out Fletchling. He commands it to use Razor Wind, but Tyrunt eats it using Crunch. Ash uses Double Team and orders Fletchling to dive at its opponent's chest with Steel Wing, but Tyrunt leaps into the air and hits Fletchling hard with Dragon Tail, sending Fletchling crashing to the ground, unable to battle. Ash sends Pikachu out, his last Pokémon. He uses Quick Attack, and when Tyrunt charges forward with Crunch, Pikachu jumps over his head and out of range. Grant commands Tyrunt to use Draco Meteor, and Ash responds with Iron Tail, knocking Tyrunt down. Pikachu then jumps on the falling rocks of Draco Meteor just as Froakie did for Rock Tomb. Tyrunt's Dragon Tail is met with Pikachu's Iron Tail and they return again to the ground. Grant decides to finish the battle with Rock Tomb, but Pikachu knocks each rock away with Iron Tail, lodging one in Tyrunt's mouth. Hopping closer on the rocks, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on the helpless Tyrunt, and Ash wins the battle. Grant congratulates Ash, but Ash says that he and his Pokémon earned the victory together. Grant presents Ash with the Cliff Badge. Outside the gym, Grant asks Ash what gym he plans to visit next. Serena suggests they head to Shalour City, where she hopes to see the Tower of Mastery. Grant tells them to expect a different kind of battle at the Shalour Gym, and that he hopes he and Ash will battle at the Battle Chateau. Having decided his next destination, Ash continues on his journey.

The episode begins with Ash and his friends taking an excursion to the Muraille Coast before heading out to the Cyllage City for Ash's Gym battle with Grant. After lunch, Ash decides that they should work on their strategy for countering Grant's Rock Tomb, and Pikachu, Froakie, and Fletchling are all ready to train. However, Serena decides that they should do some fishing since they're at the beach and doing too much training will stress Ash out. Clemont then suggests that if Ash catches another Water-type Pokémon, he will have a much easier time when it comes to battling Grant, to which Ash agrees, so everyone begins fishing. Serena wonders what kind of Pokémon she'll catch, while Ash already has a bite, but it proves to be quite strong as Ash struggles to pull it out of the water. Bonnie begins to wonder if it could be a Corsola, Clamperl, or even a Wailord, and Ash mentions that he will catch it no matter what Pokémon it is. The unknown Pokémon begins to go wild in the water, but is brought to the surface after one final pull from Ash. As Ash looks confused, Serena tells him it looks like he only caught some kelp, but Clemont corrects her, saying that Ash did in fact catch something. However, when Ash examines what he caught, it suddenly jumps to his face, flailing around. As Ash pulls the Pokémon from his face, he is confused and admits he didn't know it was a Pokémon after all, but Bonnie notices that it is hurt and places a bandage on its head. As everyone stares at the Pokémon, it begins to flail about once more as it jumps from Ash's grip and back into the water. Ash checks the Pokémon with his Pokédex and learns that it is a Skrelp. Skrelp then fires Sludge Bomb at them, thinking that the group is its enemy. Pikachu bravely attempts to talk to Skrelp to calm it down, but is hit with Toxic and becomes badly poisoned in the process. As Skrelp dives away underwater, Clemont tells them they need to get Pikachu to a Pokémon Center quickly, but as they rush off, a van pulls up at the side of the road and a couple offers them help in tending to Pikachu by using an Antidote. Having used the Antidote, Pikachu is successfully cured from the poison's effects and is alright, much to Ash's relief. Ash thanks the couple for their help and everyone introduces themselves to the couple. The couple then introduce themselves as Eddy and Lindsey, and reveal that they're underwater archaeologists interested in searching for the Cussler, a luxury liner that sank due to hitting an iceberg many years ago. They reveal that the Cussler may be in the area of the Muraille Coast due to the current carrying it there. Becoming interested, Ash and his friends offer to help them in any way they can, to which they accept, admitting that they're short handed at the moment. Lindsey mentions how the quest could get dangerous, so the group will need to listen to them and they agree as everyone sets off. However, once they drive off, Team Rocket is shown to have heard everything about the Cussler and how there are priceless treasures on the ship and decide to set their sights on retrieving the treasure for themselves. On the boat, Eddy informs Lindsey that it is almost time, and she tells Ash and his friends to watch the whirlpools very carefully. Upon watching them, the group notices that the whirlpools have now disappeared. This is because the intersecting currents that create the whirlpools regularly change, so the whirlpools won't be around for a while. Eddy then lets everyone know they have reached their destination and that they are going to get ready to dive. Lindsey opens up the lid to the submarine and Ash asks her if this is what they're going to be using to dive in, and after receiving confirmation, he asks if they can dive down with her. Lindsey is shocked and explains that the submarine isn't very large, so it can only fit two other people in there with her. Clemont has a solution to the issue as he reveals his newest invention, a machine that will decide fair and square who wins a chance to go inside the submarine with Lindsey. The machine reveals the winner to be Ash and Serena, leaving Bonnie annoyed with Clemont for them losing, but Clemont tells her that their fate was chosen by science, so there aren't any hard feelings. With the winning group now decided, it is time for them to leave for the underwater adventure to search for the Cussler. Clemont and Bonnie watch as the submarine disappears under the water and Lindsey asks Eddy if the communication between the submarine and the boat is clear, which Eddy confirms. Down in the submarine, Serena watches a group of Qwilfish swim by, while Ash mentions the amount of Octillery on his side. Serena is impressed by the amount of Water-type Pokémon there are as the submarine continues to go deeper into the ocean. Serena notices three Skrelp, and recognizes the one they encountered earlier by the bandage Bonnie put on its head. As Serena and Ash are happy that Skrelp managed to find its friends, the submarine is suddenly caught in and swept away by the current, which causes an interference with the communication system. However, Lindsey isn't fazed by it but is instead excited that their theory about how the Cussler got swept away is proving to be correct. Serena becomes worried as the ship is quite close to them, but Lindsey handles things and gets them to safety. Ash notices the group of Skrelp following the sunken ship and Lindsey decides to follow them. After following the Skrelp and the sunken ship, they find another ship with a Milotic emblem, which Eddy then confirms is the Cussler, causing Clemont and Bonnie cheer in excitement. Two Pokémon emerge from the Cussler and approach the sunken ship from earlier as Ash scans the unfamiliar Pokémon with his Pokédex, learning that the two Pokémon are Dragalge. Lindsey then states that the Dragalge fused the two ships together as a group of Luvdisc, Chinchou, and Remoraid come out of the Cussler and begin playing with the group of Skrelp. Eddy explains that the Dragalge used Acid to fuse the two ships together to create one whole structure as Clemont adds that the Water Pokémon can then use the structure as their home. After watching how well the Water-type Pokémon get along, Lindsey then notices a bright light coming from the side of the ship, as do the Water Pokémon as Serena wonders where the light could be coming from. The Dragalge begin to swim up to the light to investigate what is causing it as Eddy asks Lindsey what's going on. Lindsey investigates the strange light. It is revealed that the light was caused by Team Rocket's Magikarp submarine cutting through the side of the ship as Lindsey, Ash, and Serena arrive in their submarine, and upon arriving, Ash immediately recognizes the submarine as Team Rocket's. The sudden mention of the name confuses Eddy as Clemont explains who they are and what they do. Clearly not aware of their presence, Team Rocket enter the ship through the hole they just made and are followed closely by the Dragalge, and shortly after, by Lindsey's submarine. Once inside, Team Rocket begin searching for the treasure on the ship as the Skrelp and Dragalge emerge from the water, followed by Lindsey's submarine. Ash opens the lid of the submarine, but there is no sign of Team Rocket. Serena also looks outside, but the Skrelp and Dragalge notice them and begin to fire Acid at them, until Pikachu steps in and is recognized by the Skrelp with the bandage, who tells its friends to stop attacking. Skrelp then goes after Team Rocket as they are busy setting up to steal the safe. An Acid attack is sent towards James's feet as the Skrelp with the bandage shows itself to them, telling them to leave or they're going to pay. Jessie corrects it, announcing that they're going to get paid after they obtain the treasure. Ash, Serena, Lindsey, and the Skrelp and Dragalge arrive, and Lindsey asks what Team Rocket is doing here. Team Rocket reveal that they're here to steal the sunken treasure. When Serena asks how they're planning the get away with stealing the treasure, Jessie presses a button on a remote, revealing that the safe will blast off in mere moments. As smoke cloud fills the entire area, Team Rocket use this as cover to make their escape. As Team Rocket run, Skrelp takes off after them, and Ash sends out Froakie to follow Skrelp. Lindsey warns everyone that they need to get out immediately because once the safe opens up a hole, the entire area will become filled with water. The safe breaks through the wall of the ship, creating a hole and heading straight for Team Rocket's submarine. However, as they prepare to grab the safe, Skrelp comes in view on the periscope, startling Jessie as the Skrelp attacks their submarine with Sludge Bomb. Froakie then looks into the periscope as Jessie tries to shake it off, but it holds on tight. Lindsey's submarine emerges from the hole in the ship and Lindsey notices that the entire Cussler is beginning to become unbalanced due to it filling up with so much water, and that it will eventually collapse. Ash decides to help prevent it from collapsing and asks the Dragalge to help them out, who in turn ask the other Water Pokémon to help out, as well. Meanwhile, Froakie is captured and swung around rapidly before being thrown at Skrelp. Team Rocket obtain the safe of treasure and make their way to the surface, but are followed by Froakie and Skrelp. Back at the Cussler, the Dragalge and the other Water Pokémon try their best to prevent the Cussler from collapsing by holding it up. Ash then suggests that they use a metal plate to seal up the hole, and while holding it up over the hole, the Dragalge use Acid to attach it to the Cussler, which does the trick as the structure stops collapsing. Eddy mentions how everyone's safety is what matters the most to him, and also reveals that the whirlpools will start to appear again soon. Team Rocket emerge from under the water with the safe still in their possession, but soon notice that the whirlpools have already began to appear around them, trapping them. Soon, their submarine is caught in one of the whirlpools, spinning them faster and faster until it blasts them off, causing them to drop the safe in the process. As Lindsey, Ash, and Serena come to the surface in their own submarine, Ash wonders where Skrelp and Froakie are as he looks off into the distance in the direction of the whirlpools, eventually noticing that they're both trapped in one of them. Lindsey reveals that not even Water-types are able to withstand the whirlpools, and Ash tells Froakie to jump. Froakie then tells Skrelp to get on its back as Froakie uses its amazing jumping abilities to jump from object to object caught in the whirlpool. After successfully jumping, Froakie finishes off with one last big jump and is safely caught by Ash, and everyone is relieved that they are both alright. Ash and his friends then wave goodbye to the Skrelp and Dragalge as they all go back home by diving under the water. Ash and Serena then wave goodbye to the Skrelp with the bandage on its head and hope that they see it again before it dives underwater, too. Eddy reveals that they were able to pinpoint the exact current that carried the Cussler to the location it is now, but Lindsey reveals that she was impressed by how many Pokémon were living down there, and that they were the real discovery. Bonnie says that Skrelp was alright thanks to Froakie and Clemont mentions how proud it should be of the big jump it made. Ash thinks about how it was a big jump, and decides to use it in the Gym battle against Grant; their next stop on their journey.
